Powerball jackpot climbs closer to $500 million

Are you watching the Powerball jackpot? As of Tuesday afternoon, it grew again to a $485 million annuity, gaining ground on the game's record of $590.5 million. Depending on ticket sales, the jackpot could surpass the $500 million mark before Wednesday's drawing.

If claimed as a lump sum, the cash payment would be estimated at $327.7 million.

Powerball players know there's more than just the jackpot to play for. In fact, over the past 20 drawings, players in our state have won more than $7.6 million. Four tickets won $1 million each and 20 won $10,000 or more.

We're excited that someone could become our state's fourth Powerball jackpot winner. And, while it's fun to play for a big jackpot, remember that it might only take one ticket to win a prize - so please play responsibly.

did experiment with the local news, might see the report. Bought 500.00 dollars worth scratch offs. only won a handful of 2.00$ and 1 10.00$ averaging up total of 35.00$ back. Point is the lottery is for education purpous. If the state lottery pushed out thousands of dollars everyday there would be no funds for education. You want more winings go to bigger state that can afford it. The lottery isnt picking on you or me or the city. Its more unless thinking what it can budget. I do think the lottery should make it more fun though. exp. if you enter 75 scratch offs. those add up give extra points at least. If you cant afford big pay offs make more small winnings. That way people stop complaining and play more.

If it were easier to win playing 1-OFF, that would mean that the prizes would have to be lower.

someone in north Carolina won in this jackpot lottery, but it was not me. But, maybe knowing north Carolina was one of three states that did win maybe will give the people here in North Carolina more hope than in the past.

How do you notify someone who has won on lucky rewards?NC Lottery
Winners are notified first by e-mail and then, if necessary, telephone and certified mail.
