Powerball jackpot third-largest in game's history

At a $450 million annuity, Wednesday's Powerball jackpot has grown to the third largest in the game's history - and could grow larger before the drawing.

By reaching the $450 million amount, the current jackpot surpassed the $448.4 million jackpot seen in August 2013. Next to fall would be the $587.5 million mark set in Nov 2012 and the record of $590.5 million set in May 2013.

The jackpot, which would currently be worth $304.1 million as a one-time cash payment, has grown for 20 straight drawings without a "perfect ticket" going back to Dec. 3. In that time, four North Carolina Powerball tickets have been one red Powerball away from hitting the jackpot, winning $1 million prizes instead.

I'm hearing alot on the net about how this money is free, well its not free money someone worked for it and paid there part so, in a sense if someone wins they will be spending some elses money.

Well the way I see it if the Lord has it for you to win it doesn't matter how much you spend so I play one three dollar power play and of course the church will get it's 10% plus I'ld pay the mortgage off then take care of my family then friends then help others. Good luck everyone, especially my North Carolina people. Remember if you win to share some love and kindness to the less fortunate. If I win, I plan to help the homeless and poor to have dreams by helping them have food, clothes, and a home. I want to see faces smile and too know that sometimes the world smiles back. That is a ridiculous amount for one winner. I have always said they should draw 100 numbers to make 100 millionaires instead of 1 winner on huge jackpot like this..NC Lottery
You can tell from ticket sales that some players like to take their chances to win a really big jackpot. But we have other games that have a larger number of smaller prizes too; sounds like one of those might be more up your alley :-)

Well, I'm wondering what state will be the first big winner on POWERBALL for this year! Love for it to be little ole me from NC! But I would settle for multiple winners if any of my number is one of the lucky numbers! Had a total of 11 jackpot winners last year 2014, and 4 of them winners was from California, one from Florida, one from Ohio, one from Washington, 2 from Missouri and one from Tennessee, and one from Colorado.
