Caldwell County woman buys $2 ticket, wins $30,000

Tamera Nichols, a hairdresser from Hudson, can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style this year thanks to the new “Lucky Green” game. She is the first player to win a $30,000 top prize in the $2 game.

Nichols was emotional as she collected her winnings Monday at the lottery's Greensboro claim center. There, she said she was in disbelief when she realized she won and plans to use her prize money to pay bills.

Nichols bought her winning ticket at Four Brothers on N.C. 64 West in Mocksville in Davie County. With her win, four top prizes of $30,000 remain to be claimed in the Lucky Green game that began last week.

For all Lucke-Rewards and second-chance drawings, we can only announce a winner's name after he or she has responded to notification AND completed the claim process. Winners are typically notified within 48 hours of the drawing by e-mail; we follow-up with phone and certified mail if necessary.

After you enter a ticket can you throw it away or if you win do you have to have ticket to claim money or prize?NC Lottery
Once you've entered a ticket for points, you don't need to keep it to be able to claim a prize.

Have last week second chance winners been notified they are not listed yet? And could you let everyone no when there a winner how many entries did they submit. Everyone including me we like to no. Thanks!!NC Lottery
Winners are typically notified by e-mail within 48 hours of a drawing. So for a drawing held on a Wednesday, notification would be made by 5pm Friday. How many entries a winner made into a drawing would be something they'd have to choose to share.
