Four players claim shares of Cash 5 jackpots this week

Many things could make you feel like you won the jackpot. Like when you're in a hurry and get all green lights, you find the perfect present for someone special - or maybe you get the gift you were hoping for.

This week, we met four Carolina Cash 5 players who know what it feels like to win the jackpot, like Bruce Wolf. The Troutman man won $182,393 in the April 5 drawing.

Two players, John Matt of Fuquay-Varina and Andris Zarins of Mooresville, split the March 31 drawing to win $110,757 apiece.

The fourth Cash 5 jackpot winner to claim this week is William Allen of Jacksonville. he won $127,360 in the Nov. 17, 2014 drawing.

Joseph Lawrence of Asheville didn't win the Powerball jackpot, but he did match four white balls and the Powerball to win $10,000 in the Jan. 10 drawing.

A pair of lucky players won $150,000 instantly this week. Maria Damian of Raleigh won playing Golden 7's and Brian Prier of Durham became the first player to win the top prize playing the Win It All game.

Three players from Lumberton claimed big prizes. Alonzo Lewis won $30,000 in the March 28 Powerball drawing, Leon Carter won $10,000 playing 100X The Cash and Jeffrey Nance won $10,000 playing $200 Million Blowout.

Two players from Charlotte won $10,000 apiece. Kenneth Jones won on a $50,000 Jackpot ticket and Archie Nance won on a $120 Million Cash ticket.

Eleven more players scratched their way to big wins this week. They are:

Grace Adams of Ayden: $50,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
John Juraschek of Chapel Hill: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
Marjorie Rogers of Gibson: $10,000 (Millionaire 7's)
Antonio Williams of Goldsboro: $10,000 ($120 Million Cash)
Rehman Arif of Greensboro: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
George Parker of Havelock: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
Chiquita Robinson of High Point: $10,000 (Golden 7's)
Winston Stephens of Lithonia, Ga.: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
Loren Dunn of Raeford: $10,000 (50X The Cash)
Mary Mial of Raleigh: $10,000: (100X The Cash)
Nolan Verderber of Wake Forest: $10,000 (Millionaires 7's)

In all, players won more than $21 million statewide.

It's a random drawing. So having even one entry gives you a chance to win. The more entries you make, the more chances you have to win :-)

Concerning the Cash 5 EZ Match, Please loosen up on the pay outs. I've been playing the EZ Match since it started and have yet to win more than $4. The $50,100,250, and 500 EZ match number are ALWAYS off by one number. Loosen up on the payout ratio, PLEASE.

game from scratch offpowerball And the most I have ever won since is 5 dollars on a 5 dollar scratch off. But the lady across the street from my mom as won 50 thousand to 150 thousand. And more than one time. And I looked at winners from.And most of them are from about the same area. It would take me winning 20 thousand dollars free. And clear to get my money back since I have been winning.I'm not greedy but it would be nice just b to scratch a ticket and win 500 dollarAre more than what a ticket is worth. And 1 more thinOne because the money is suppose to go to the schools.But my town of Scotland county Is closing down 3 schools next yr. And combining them. I have also entered many rewards drawings with many entries. What is the process of picking these entries and if someone wins multiple prizes; Will the individual win one of those prizes or will you omit these prizes and redraw for a new winner?NC Lottery
The drawings are conducted using a random number generator under the supervision of an auditor. The rules state that a member can win a maximum of one prize per drawing, but can enter as many drawings as they want for a chance to win :-)

The order of the numbers on your Quick Pick ticket are displayed in order to make it easier for you to check your numbers against the results, which are also displayed in order. The lottery's random number generator is certified by Eclipse Testing http://www.eclipsetesting.com. This certification includes two parts: a source code review to ensure every line of the system's source code contains no malicious or extra lines of code, and a review of data samples provided by the RNG. The system runs tests on itself approximately once every four seconds to ensure random number generation according to FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards). These tests are monitored and if even one fails, the process stops and starts over. An independent auditor is present for every drawing to ensure security procedures are followed.

I can't purchase tickets on the website from Gastonia because of a geo locate error. I have tried wire line and cellular internet connections and get the same result each time. This been the last 3 days.NC Lottery

Just remember, hundreds, thousands and millions lose so a few can win. Also, you are more likely to be struck by lightning than to win the PowerBall or Mega Millions. Play a few bucks and hope for the best.

Yes. Typically for a drawing held on Wednesday winners are sent e-mail notification by 5pm Friday - but not always. We always provide web updates as quickly as possible because we know folks are interested to find out who won! :-)

The winners are purposefully listed in alphabetical order by town. The big winner wrap-up blog is based on a more formal news release that goes out to media, usually on Fridays. In that news release we list the hometown in the first column.

NCEL, as you know by my log-in, I have commented and complained about the 'All or Nothing' game since it's inception. I bought a QP today, the first I've bought in months, and of course, it wasn't a winner. When I checked online for the winning numbers, I wasn't too surprised to see the massive drop in winners of less than $500 prizes compared to the previous numbers after the game's introduction. That should tell you something right there; the games a flop. When a "random number generator" picks numbers in a straight numerical order, it's virtually (not totally) impossible for one to pick all the winning numbers or none of them at all...of course, a "random number generator" is nothing more than a computer, and a computer can be programmed to do what you want it to do...create impossible winning odds.NC Lottery

Wow, ALL scratch off winners came from the Eastern part of NC and of all the other winners, only Joseph Lawrence of Asheville won. I've said this before that it appears that the majority of winners come from the eastern part of NC. May not be rigged, but it sure appears to be that way.NC Lottery
The majority of North Carolinians live east of the mountains. It's not easier to win depending on where you live, just more folks taking a chance to win. If you read the blog week to week you'll see we have winners in the west, too :-)

We don't share that exact information because scammers could use it to make it look like they're sending real e-mails from the lottery. Don't worry though, if we don't hear back from a winner by e-mail we'll call and - if necessary - send certified mail :-)

Web updates are made as quickly as possible. As you've noticed, for drawings held on Wednesdays, typically we are able to say that winners have been notified as of 5pm Friday. But, as you've also noticed, not always! :-)

You do realize that in just a few more days that it'll be 2 years since we had a Quad in the Pick 4? What's up with that? They don't hit very often but they certainly had a better track record than that it the past. What gives?!NC Lottery
The odds of a quad coming up don't get better or worse, it's always a 10 in 10,000 chance that one of the 10 quads will come up. We love it when quads hit because it makes so many players happy but we're also happy for winners no matter what #s they like to play! :-)

Gaston County is actually a pretty lucky place for lottery players. Twenty-nine players have won $50,000 or more on scratch-off tickets, most recently a player from Dallas who claimed $200,000 back in January. Hope you have a big-winning moment very soon!
