Carolina Cash 5 jackpot won three times this week

The leading theme of this week's big lottery wins was our state's jackpot game, Carolina Cash 5. Three tickets matched all five numbers to win the jackpot this week.

Jennifer Lee, a 65-year-old machinist from Winston-Salem, plans to use the $182,493 jackpot she won playing Cash 5 on Monday to pay off her home, buy a car and save for her upcoming retirement.

The two other jackpots won this week have yet to be claimed. One ticket, worth $58,559, matched all five numbers in Wednesday’s drawing. It was sold at Molly’s Market on Mills Gap Road in Fletcher.

The second ticket won the $50,000 jackpot in Thursday’s drawing. The ticket was sold at the Wilco on North Sycamore Street in Rose Hill. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 575,757.

Eighteen more players won prizes of $10,000 to $50,000 this week. They are:

German Urquia of Durham: $10,000 (Trucks & Bucks)

Linda Stanfield of Greensboro: $50,000 (50X The Cash)
Steve Shumate of Jonesville: $10,000 ($120 Million Cash)
Gerry Kefalinos of Macon: $10,000 (100X the Cash)
Teresa Dover of Midland: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
Jana Williams of Mooresville: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
Phyllis Bell of Mount Holly: $25,000 (4/21 Mega Millions drawing)
Robert Griffin of Raleigh: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
Christopher Brown of Siler City: $10,000 (4/22 Powerball drawing)
Gordon Madden of Snow Camp: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
Mohamed Saad of Spring Lake: $10,000 (50X The Cash)
Michael Gooch of Stanley: $50,000 (10X The Cash)
Arthur Jones of Washington: $10,000 (5X The Cash)
Thomas Allen of Zebulon: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)

From April 24 through April 30, instant players won $18.4 million and draw game players won more than $5.1 million. In all, players won more than $23.5 million in prizes statewide.

Power winner that's the name of the game. I agree totally, if you win on a $1 ticket it should be double the cost. Than again, they wouldn't make much money if they did that.

(Linkmand) possibly what the player was saying is that when they buy a scratch off ticket the minimum prize should be at least the cost of the ticket. For instance if you buy a ticket for $10.00 and scratch off 2X and prize is $5.00 you've only won your money back your prize amount should be amount you paid before you scratch off 2X it has happened many times to me also.

Player ask? Sorry I have never seen or heard of any ticket that paid less than the ticket purchase price per drawing or single scratch off purchase, unless you buy 20 of a single game and only win off one ticket and that does not add up to total cost. Basically you can not win less than purchase price of that single ticket unless its a losing ticket. Read the rules people.

why do some winning scratch tickets(all win ,across the board win ,etc;) , pay the a bare minimum payout (a dollar , or lesser nomination than played? Those of you designing the payout rules scratch tickets ,please be aware that a win on a scratch tickets usually create an excitement as with any win .These minimum payout winning scratch tickets usually causes multiply hearth attacks reactions .That is ,thinking you have won a winner scratch ticket , then finding out that the ticket payout is not ,but pays a minimum payout ( a dollar /or lesser nomination amt. played ).Please make a scratch ticket win a minimum of 5x the nomination played .NC Lottery

Lucke-Zone, I would like to know why you are not responding to me? I wanted to know why the odds of winning scratch offs is different from what is printed on the cards and the actual How to Play Rules on the web-page? It really looks like the Lottery is being misleading to the players, if the actual odds of winning for the $20 games is 1 to 7.50 to break even listed on the chart, but printed on the scratch offs you have odds of 1 in 2.96 to win. Please explain on this.NC Lottery

Well today is the day April Thompson won the cash5 in RICHMOND COUNTY! Guess it will be another 3 years or more before it's won again in RICHMOND COUNTY again! I play 4 buck everyday single day, 124 dollars a month. I win a buck here and there! Won 4 numbers right last November. That was the 3rd time that has happen in a 2 year span. i want someone to tell me if they see a pattern on the 2,5k a wk for life. i have spent well over 300d on non winning tickets on this game. whenever the numbers 8,11 or 22 is on the ticket it is a non winner. i have driven throughout the city from one end to the other and have not won a thing. i buy 1 to 2 tickets at each location.non-winners.came to the conclusion 2nd. chance no money just enter the ticket. i have well over 1k entered. and have not WON!! anybody see a pattern?

Lucke-Zone, on all the scratch offs, the odds of winning are different from the charts printed on the How to Play Rules...for example: the $20 Multiplier Spectacular shows odds as 1 in 2.96 to win but on the chart of rules it shows 7.50 being the odds to win $20. This does not make sense, so Lucke-Zone please explain why the odds on your Rules/Chart are different from the odds printed on the scratch offs.NC Lottery
When the game began, the overall odds of winning *including* break-even prizes were 1 in 2.96.. the odds of specifically winning $20 as opposed to winning one of the other prize amounts or no prize were 1 in 7.5 :-)

Wish I could just win more than 5 dollars. A 500 dollar payday would make me feel like I have won a million. If I would have just saved all the money I put in it. I would have a few thousand dollars. It's coming up on the year anniversary for our April Thompson winning the Cash 5 here in Richmond county! I would be interested to know how many people win that actually pick their numbers versus the people that allow the computer to pick them. May 1, 2015 made 5 straight years, without missing a single day, of playing the Carolina Cash 5, Mega Million and PowerBall. I have not missed a day in those years of supporting the NC Lottery. The same numbers for all the games and never computer picked. The most I have ever matched is 3 numbers and that has only happened 4 times. You would think in 1,726 drawings my numbers would have matched at least 4 numbers once. I have spent over $6,700 playing the lottery during this time and have probably not won $300. Very discouraging when I see people win multiple times.NC Lottery
