More ‘Mega’ tickets win big Tuesday, jackpot annuity $233 million

North Carolina players continue to win big prizes chasing big jackpots. For a second straight drawing, two Mega Millions tickets sold in our state matched four white balls and the Mega Ball.

A ticket with the $1 Megaplier add-on, worth $20,000 because the Megaplier was four, was sold at the Eagle Springs Mini Mart on N.C. 211 in Eagle Springs in Moore County.

The other winning ticket, worth $5,000, was sold at the Food Lion on Plaza Road in Charlotte.

In all, players statewide won more than $152,000 in the drawing. Because there was no perfect ticket, the jackpot for Friday’s drawing is now a $233 million annuity, worth $143.1 million cash.

Players have another chance to win a triple-digit jackpot in tonight’s Powerball drawing. The $154 million annuity is worth $96.4 million cash.

Do subscription members ever win or are you better buying a ticket?NC Lottery
Playing Cash 5, Powerball or Mega Millions via web-based subscription gives you the same odds of winning as buying a ticket in a store. The percentage of folks who play by subscription is very small compared to in-store, but the odds are the same on every ticket! :)

Maybe this has been answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. For those of us who play by subscription, the instructions for claiming Mega Million and Power Ball jackpots requires a valid ticket. A playslip is not acceptable. Is our email confirmation of purchase sufficient to prove we won? Would like to see a section under the Rules that speaks specifically to this. Should I win either big jackpot, I don't want to have to wait to deal with the mail to get my money.NC Lottery
