Players statewide won $22 million this week. Someone could win a lot more Friday night.
The Mega Millions jackpot annuity has climed to $126 million ($78.1 million cash). As you may know, our state has had two Mega Millions jackpot winners of $12 million to $75 million. We're always looking forward to the moment we get to add another name to that list.
Winning the jackpot is the ultimate goal for players of games like Mega Millions. But there are lots of other ways to win, too. Three North Carolina tickets matched four white balls and the Mega Ball tuesday night to win $5,000 apiece. Two of the lucky tickets were sold in the mountains, at the Mountain Energy on Allman Drive in Franklin and the Pilot Travel Center on Crabtree Road in Waynesville. The third was sold on the coast, at the Bridgeton Fuel Market on D Street in Bridgeton, which is in Craven County.
Who else won big this week? The three biggest winners are:
- Robeson County resident Carlean Wallace of Maxton says she will do some landscaping in her yard and purchase a new truck with the $200,000 she won on a $200,000 Jackpot ticket.
- Bettie Yarboro-Jackson, an antique store owner from Roxboro in Person County, is celebrating after winning $150,000 in the new $500 Mayhem game.
- Benjamin Morgan, who lives on the Edgecombe County side of the town of Fountain, won the $124,195 jackpot in the May 5 Carolina Cash 5 drawing.
The three winners of jackpots in consecutive Carolina Cash 5 drawings all claimed their prizes this week. They are:
- David Bradley of Asheville: $58,559 (4/29/15 drawing)
- Linda Herring of Wallace: $50,000 (4/30/15 drawing)
- Michelle Williams of Charlotte: $50,000 (5/1/15 drawing)
A Powerball winner from a small coastal town in Currituck County collected his $10,000 prize. William Beasley won by matching four white balls and the Powerball in the April 11 drawing.
Ten more players scratched their way to wins of $10,000 or more. They are:
