Six players win prizes from $150,000 to $4 million this week

Since last Thursday, six players across the state scratched and matched their way to prizes from $150,000 to $4 million.

The biggest win of the week went to Ernesto Mellon Jr. of Newport, who is the second player to win the $4 million top prize in the 100X The Cash game. He plans to use a portion of his winnings to pay off his home and save for the future.

Patricia Everhart, a homemaker from Lexington, says that she’s had a lot of luck playing the lottery’s Millionaire 7’s scratch-off game. Her claim was backed up on Thursday after she won prizes of $20, $40, $500 and $1 million.

Joshua Moore, a landscaper from Mountain Home, plans to use a portion of his $500 a Week for Life! prize to send his daughter to college.

Creedmoor resident Vester Ormsby is the latest player to win big playing Carolina Cash 5. His Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in the June 12 drawing to win the $234,265 jackpot.

Michael Williams, a chef from Asheville, said he woke up the Saturday before last in a good mood. Before the day would end, he’d have the good fortune to win $150,000 playing the Trucks & Bucks game.

Chad Harris of Timberlake is the fourth and final winner of the $150,000 top prize in the Joker’s Wild game. He purchased the lucky $5 ticket at Cruizers on North Roxboro Road in Durham.

Fourteen other players scratched or matched for $10,000 to $50,000 this week. They are:

- Michelle Ward of Conover: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- Charles White of Fayetteville: $50,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
- Joseph Puharic of Fayetteville: $10,000 (Jumbo Bucks)
- Victor Cubero of Fuquay-Varina: $10,000 ($5,000 a Week for Life!)
- Cameron Shaw of Greensboro: $10,000 (50X The Cash)
- Kimberlie Temple of Greensboro: $10,000 (100X The Cash)
- Winifred Gash of Hendersonville: $10,000 (Millionaire 7’s)
- Judy Cisom of Kernersville: $10,000 ($2,500 a Week for Life!)
- Thomas Hagans of Kings Mountain: $10,000 ($120 Million Cash)
- Savy Ourng of Lexington: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
- Margie Debnam of Louisburg: $20,000 ($1,000,000 Jackpot)
- Wenona Jones of Marston: $20,000 (6/3/15 Powerball drawing)
- Garrett Martin of Matthews: $30,000 (Lucky Green)
- Jaime Morales of Willard: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)

Thomasville is smaller than Lexington and they sure been winning some prizes. I have to agree about living in the lower income areas, I shop some of these areas. Most are local owners whos business is slow and ticket sales are low. I guess we contribute to alot of the odds. Spent 50 dollars in one store one day and nothing. The sits right in front of the tickets, maybe hes watching closely, by now he knows the game.

Mc is the biggest scam when it comes to the winning of the cash 5, lotto and scratch off I read the person said they play a 100$ a week for 6 years haven't won it's ridiculous I check the winners weekly same areas winning never poor areas I'm not talking about 5 10 or 500 I'm talk big money all winning ticket Raleigh, Fayetteville, the mountains, so my advice if u live in poor areas low income areas try and purchase your tickets when u go out of town because your wasting your money I play cash 5 since its been out same numbers only win 1.00 every now and then a rip off NC Lottery
As we said in an earlier response, big winners come from all over the state. In the past two weeks, we've had winners come from towns such as Newport, Lexington, Mountain Home, Supply and Timberlake. You don't have to live in a big city to win a big prize!

if ez match is random why are the ez match always close to the numbers i choose. its never far from off for instance i played 12 14 15 28 32 the ez match numbers came out 11 16 17 33 35 ez match set up to choose numbers close to the players numbers to give us hopes and entice us to keep spending our money i believe its a scam and i have bought 4 ez match tickets and 1000 was not on any of them 100.00 was the highest amount on the ticket

Let`s see, out of the above list of winners I`m counting the ones from Brunswick Co....0! I heard some disturbing news from one of the ticket vendors a short while ago and he was angry about it. He said that the NCEL was making the prizes smaller on scratchers in order to generate more money...I hope this is not true. NC Lottery
Well, not every county will win big every week. That said, just two weeks ago we had two players from Supply win big, including a $192,955 Cash 5 jackpot. As to your other question, we've actually increased the amount of prizes we put into games over the years. When the lottery began, most of our $5 games had a top prize of $100,000. Now they are mostly $150,000 and $200,000. We love winners and we want to meet more of them!

I buy quick All or Nothing 9 picks (1) I pick the numbers. I won $2.00 on the one I picked nothing on the quick picks which were mostly the same numbers. Strange # generator knows your #'s. Can't beat that!!!!

I agree with burdog 1. The odds are a lie and u guys should live up to the odds. 1 in every 3 purchased should be a winner. So that means 10 of 30 should be winners! If u spread them out then the odds aren't 1 in 3, thats just the truth! NC Lottery
We see your concern. We clearly state that the odds are not per pack, but for the overall printing of the game. If we made it so that every third ticket in the pack won a prize, why would anyone buy the two before it? Spreading out the winning tickets throughout the entire printing of the game makes it fair for everyone.

Regarding the reply to Sandy and Greene: Of the 5 regions in NC, the Raleigh region has 39% of the second chance winners while the other 4 regions then average only about 15% each? So basically, you would have over a 2 1/2 times better chance of winning a second-chance drawing if you lived in the Raleigh area. Ummm...NC Lottery
That is not an accurate interpretation. Any entry made in the mountains or the coast has the same chance of winning a prize as an entry made in the piedmont. More entries are made in certain places, increasing the likelihood that one of those entries will be chosen... but that doesn't give any player an advantage.

When a ticket has 1:2.94 of winning breakeven prizes and I buy a whole roll of $20 tickets and only win $100, how is that number calculated? I spend $600 and only win $100, that doesn't equal 1:2.94. The ratio seems to be higher to buy losing tickets vs winning tickets?NC Lottery
The odds of winning at least a break-even prize are set at the beginning of the game for the entire printing run of the game. Winning & non-winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire printing run of the game. For a game with 1 in 3 odds, no guarantee is made that if you buy three tickets in a row, one will win a prize or that if you buy 30, 10 will win a prize. It still takes luck... good luck to you!

Out of curiosity, where are the monthly drawing winners posted? Are they simply called or emailed? I see and enter drawings all the time but just do not know where to look for the winners of said drawings....NC Lottery
This is one of the most common questions we get. Winners are typically notified by e-mail within 48 hours of a drawing. If we don't hear back, we will call and, if necessary, send certified mail. You can see who has won past drawings by clicking on the WINNERS tab within the LUCKE-REWARDS area of the website. As soon as a winner as responded to notification & claimed a prize, we will announce the winner's name. Good luck!

The only reason there are top prizes that go unclaimed is because the so call top prizes tickets where never printed in the first place but we're left to believe they're still in a warehouse somewhere.. u lottery guys crack me up with your bogus explanations.. cant pull the wool over my eyes!! And I hit the pick3 and pick4 exact in the same drawing earlier this year.. thats what you call rigged %100.. no-one gets that lucky without something fishy going on behind the scenes!!! The lottery has five sales regions. The Raleigh one extends west toward the Triad, north to the Virginia border, and south to the South Carolina border and Wilmington. Players from outside this region - Eastern North Carolina, the Triad, Charlotte and the Mountains - have won 61% of the prizes in Lucke-Rewards drawings.

After all these tickets I put in on Lucke-zone I have won nothing. And after all these scratch off's and money I put into the lottery I havent won anything. i'm sure theirs more losing tickets than winning tickets out there. And for those who win huge amounts its always someone retired or old. Crazy. But im just going to not buy them as much but still buy them every now and then. Never know where to provide comments so I find the first place there is a box and add-on in hopes someone from the Lottery is reading. On the app you designed it requires you to log in every time you go to the app. Why security is a concern, so is usability. If some are overly concern then provide the setting to require logon on each visit. For me, I want to deselect the option and have the application register my mobile phone so it knows it is linked and a sign-on is not required on every visit. My phone remains locked after so minutes of use so I feel confident with a registered linked. Others may not but that is why developers develop setting options.NC Lottery

I don't have money I can afford to loose to play, the only money I win is what I find where people don't pay attention and throw away a winning ticket. The most I have won is Golden 7's. someone threw away a winning 100 dollar ticket. When I did play it was monopoly. I bought 15 five dollar tickets and won a total of 10 dollars. That doesn't exactly even out, so I don't play anymore. I need to get lucky again and find a million dollar winner. ODDS are not good, but better that loosing Money.

I have a question about Luck-e Zone. This may not be the right forum for it but, I don't know where else to post it. Once we enter our tickets for Luck-e Rewards points, does the NCEL know which tickets are winners after a drawing? Say I enter my Cash5 ticket number into Luck-e Rewards in the afternoon. When the Cash5 drawing is held that evening, say that I match all 5 numbers and win the big prize. NCEL would know exactly who won the prize since I entered my ticket number before the drawing, correct? And if so, would NCEL contact me via email or would they wait until I had made a claim? Hey LZ! I have noticed the King Ransom ticket has only two rows of numbers, while the others have three rows of numbers! Any particular reason for that? Congrats to all you lucky winners! Well, we certainly hope whoever won will come in and claim their prize soon. If a prize goes unclaimed, half the money goes to education and the other half goes to the prize pool for future games.

Wow that's not to good. 500 is not a bad hit. I have never won more than 100.00. I play around 40.00 a week and I am pretty close to being even over all. I would say I still have spent more than I have won. Just going to stick to set amount a week and I should hit for a nice amount before the year end! I would take a 500.00 any day:) that's like 12 weeks of scratching. I never play more than 40.00 a week even if I win. Being consistent is only way I see to hit for a nice amount.
