Conover man wins ‘awesome’ new truck in second-chance drawing

Conover resident Donald Cook is "thrilled" to be the second player to win a brand new truck in the lottery’s Trucks & Bucks second-chance drawing.

“I got an email saying I'd won and my jaw just dropped,” Cook said. “It was crazy. I had thirteen entries, so I didn't think my name would be called. I've never won anything like this before, but it feels awesome.”

Cook picked up his brand new Ingot Silver Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew on Tuesday at Randy Marion Ford in Statesville. He already has plans for his first trip in his new truck.

"I really want to take my daughter to Myrtle Beach for a little vacation," Cook said while sitting in the driver's seat. "This is one of the nicest trucks I've ever seen. I can't believe it's mine."

Winners in the Trucks & Bucks second-chance promotion have a choice between a Chevrolet® Silverado™ 1500 LT Z71, Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew or Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab. Each truck has an approximate value of $52,000.

The third and final Trucks & Bucks drawing will occur on Sept. 9. As always, we'll announce the winner as soon as they claim their prize. In the meantime, be sure to enter your Trucks & Bucks instant scratch-off tickets here on the Lucke-Zone for your chance to win.

The winner does not have to pay any taxes when they receive the truck. Initial taxes paid :)

I can't believe Raleigh has a complaint.More winners come from Raleigh than any other part of the state.I had over 200 entries in the truck.Glad to see a winner with such few entries.

Conover is a town in Catawba county. Gastonia is a town in Gaston county. They are 45 miles apart and neither one is small, unless you consider a population of 10k small. Wow only 13 entries. See you do not need 100's and 1000's of entries to win.NC Lottery
You are correct. We had spent a lot of time talking about the $1M ticket sold in Cherryville in Gaston County that we made a mistake in our reply :)

You are most certainly correct. We had spent so much time talking about the unclaimed $1M ticket that was sold in Cherryville in Gaston County that we made a mistake on that. Thanks for pointing it out so we could fix it.
