Twenty tickets pay off in a big way this week

It's the end of the week, so it must be time for our weekly winner wrap-up!

The biggest win of the week went to B.A. Ray of Clemmons. He was having a relaxing Friday afternoon when he stopped at Carlton’s Tanglewood on Clemmons Road. That’s where he bought and scratched off a $200 Million Blowout ticket, winning a $1 million prize.

Greensboro resident Vito Picone’s Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in the Aug. 15 Cash 5 drawing to win the $313,425 jackpot. “I checked the numbers on the computer and I had to rub my eyes,” Picone said. “It didn’t seem real, but I guess it is. I’m very fortunate.”

Bill and April Richee of Winston-Salem claimed their second Carolina Cash 5 jackpot in four years on Monday, winning $260,278 in the Aug. 8 drawing. The first time, Bill used a series of numbers based on family birthdays to win big. This time, the winning numbers came from a more unlikely place: A fortune cookie.

Finally, Lumberton resident Kimberly Brewer said she plans to use the $100,000 prize she won playing the new Mega Bucks game to pay off her mortgage and her car.

Three players won $50,000 this week:

High Point resident Sandra Dixon, who works for a furniture manufacturer, said she plans to go on a vacation to Maryland and buy school supplies and new clothes for her kids after winning the top prize in the $50,000 Jackpot game. She purchased the lucky ticket at Kangaroo Express on North Main Street in Archdale.

Joseph Dugan of Raeford won big playing $200 Million Blowout. He bought the winning ticket at Hardin’s Food Store on Philippi Church Road in Raeford.

Lisa Gauze, a house cleaner from Newport, plans to pay some bills after winning big playing 100X The Cash. She bought her winning ticket at the Super Expressway on East Main Street in Havelock.

Garner resident Daniel Jones won $10,000 in the Aug. 19 Powerball drawing. He purchased the ticket at Murphy Express on N.C. 42 West in Garner.
