Winter storm affects some lottery operations

The first winter storm of the year has led to the closure of lottery headquarters in Raleigh and regional offices and claims centers in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh on Friday.

And our Greenville office closed early at 4;15 p.m. due to weather conditions in that area.

Our Wilmington office is open till 5 p.m. but if adverse weather conditions occur in that area it could close too. So we advise everyone to call ahead before making a visit.

All lottery drawings will be held as scheduled.

Don’t take chances on icy roads. If you have won a lottery prize, your prize will be waiting on you when conditions improve. So stay safe out there.

The more entries you make, the more chances you have to win. The random number generator is told to pick entry numbers at random, it has no idea who's entries they are! :)

Yes, Lucky for Life subscriptions will be available here in the Lucke-Zone starting Sunday, Feb. 7. The drawings are held Mondays and Thursdays at approximately 10:38pm - good luck!

I'm looking forward to playing that lucky for life game! I just might quit playing the Cash 5 game and stick to the Lucky for Life game! You want to know why? There has not been a big Cash 5 winner in Richmond county,NC since May of 2014. There may have been 4 numbers right winners here, but I'm talking about big jackpot winners here in RCO. Come May 2016, it's going to be 2 years. That is unless, by chance it will be won here before then! I had stopped playing the lottery for 5 months last year. Now i only play Cash 5, but when PB and MM gets giant Jackpots, i do play a few bucks on them, that's the only time i do play! I hope one day soon my turn will come around for me to win big! It was hard to get in glad to be a part of this! I've been getting a bunch of both lottery and scratch offs! And just overheard the cashier saying that she keeps the ones that the customers leave because of the loss! So I will not be leaving any tickets anymore and I will tell more people about this!

Why can't we have all the jackpot and daily games to purchase on line? Especially with bad weather and cannot make it to the store. I t need to be way less than two weeks plays. lets say a couple of days. Money is money, $1 or $100. Thanks a lot. NC Lottery

WOW, look at all this snow. First of all, I would like to remind everybody to stay safe, and stay inside. Also know, it has been proven that idiling your vehicle's engine for long periods of time in the snow can be deadly if the vehicle's exhaust system is obstructed due to build up of snow around the muffler (causing carbon-monoxicde poisioning). However, If you must travel in the snow, slightly deflating your vehicle's tires (to 30-25psi) should help for added traction, causing a wider surface area to be utlized by the tire when making contact with a snow-packed surface, but remember, KEEP VEHICLE SPEED LOW.

I have a suggestion for the players who complain about the store owners being able to count the winning & non winning tickets. DON'T scratch them off in the store, take them home with you. Cash them in the next day.

I drew a line down the middle of both maps. The 1st one had 4 winners of $50k on the west & 3 on the east. The 2nd map had 10 big winners on the west and 9 big winners on the east. Yet people still feel the need to complain about were the winners are located. Thanks for the maps. I can't wait for February!

Lucky for Life (LFL) is a lottery draw game available in 16 states and the District of Columbia. Lucky for Life, which began in 2009 in Connecticut as Lucky4Life, became a New England-wide game three years later, and added eleven more lotteries during 2015. The game's slogan is "The Game of a Lifetime." Drawings remain in Connecticut; Lucky for Life is drawn Mondays and Thursdays , using two drawing machines and numbered balls.
