Depends completely on ticket sales. If tickets sales are higher, the jackpot will increase faster.

Sound good, but I think the tickets should be prices @ .50 or 1.00 an the ticket has to add up to 1.00. Will give you more of a chance to win. Also the prize for 3#'s should be set at 10.00. The 1.00 for 2 #'s is just terrible. Pls start a new game in NC. The Green Ball was really a JOKE not played long enough.....:(

Thanks for the explanation but the #2 winner had already won a prize and shouldn't have been moved up - another player should have been drawn at random for the VIP prize - you just took that opportunity away from the rest of us.NC Lottery
Everyone who entered the drawing had an opportunity to be one of the winners drawn at random. In moving the #2 winner into the VIP prize slot, the #2 winner returned their prize of two tickets so that an alternate could be moved into a prize-winning position. There was never any possibility that the lottery would hold another drawing to determine more winners. Alternates are drawn at the time of the original drawing. Within the lottery industry, this is considered a best practice among professional auditors. We can understand from your questions that you have a high level of interest in how these things work. We do our best to respond to comments here on the blog that express concerns.

@ 87SUPERGLIDE - We are sorry that our communication was not more clear. We have strict internal controls in place and followed the precise rule you cited. The winners in a random drawing are selected in a particular order. In this case, the first winner's name drawn was the VIP experience winner and the other 10 players got two-ticket prize packages. Since the VIP winner forfeited the prize, we simply moved the #2 winner drawn into the top position, and award the two-ticket prize to an alternate. When possible, that is the most fair way to reward players who entered and had good luck. We are here responding to your questions out of our commitment to be transparent about how these things work. No where in the rules does it say that a lower tier winner would be "promoted", the rules say "If all reasonable efforts to locate the winners fail within the thirty (30) calendar day period, the NCEL will select a replacement winner from the drawing alternates." No wonder people think the NCEL is rigged.NC Lottery

By "changing the game to produce larger jackpots more often" you just mean "making it harder to win." As you said, many players were not in favor of the change and continue to feel that way, you can change it back at any time now, the jackpots were perfectly fine where they were and I do believe when it almost hit 1 million it was at the original number set...

I think that the cash 5 is nice. I just wish that if you win 2 numbers that the prize should be more than $1.00 especially when the jackpot is up in the thousands. Why not change how much you win on cash 5. I have been playing cash 5 since it started and the most I win is $1.00. NC Lottery

It would be very nice if the online Cash 5 purchase had the option to be day-specific. For instance, I play LFL on Mondays and Thursdays, and Mega Millions Tuesdays and Thursdays. I play Cash 5 W, Sa, and Su. This means I'm playing something everyday. However, even though I can purchase my LFL and MM ahead of time (say a month's worth in advance) I can't do this for Cash 5. Can you mention to someone there that if they gave a "day of week" option to purchase, then I could purchase a months Cash 5 in advance as well because I could purchase, say, four Wednesday tickets, four Saturday tickets, and four Sunday tickets...thanks!

A lot of my friends and I use to play cash 5 until they added more numbers. It reminded me of the power or cable company raising your rates but trying to convince you that somehow it will be better for you. While sometimes the jackpot does increase faster, but some nights it increases less than 5k. Like on 10/13/16 it only increased 4k or on 10/08/16 it only increased 5k. Not to mention that the 4 out of 5 payout seems to have went down as well.NC Lottery
We heard from many players who were not in favor of the change to the game. In general, the popularity of jackpot games is mostly about the size of the jackpot, so changing the game to produce larger jackpots more often was one way to do that. The amount of money that goes to the prizes for matching 4 out of 5 numbers has not changed.

This is where it should start all the time. Most people only start playing once the jackpot is 100K. If your looking to build players the 4/5 and 3/5 prizes have start higher.

As of this morning it has been 33 days since winners were notified of winning the Panthers second chance drawing. Three 2 ticket and the VIP packages have not been claimed. Your rules state they have 30 days from being notified to claim or alternate winners will be selected. How about abiding by your rules and select alternates - there are only 18 days for alternates to claim and make travel or other arrangements to attend the game on November the 13th.NC Lottery
Winners have 30 days from the moment they are notified to complete the claim process. Notification is typically, but not always made, within 48 hours of the draw date. So the claim deadline is almost never exactly 30 days after the draw date. But three of the winners - including the VIP package winner - did forfeit their prizes in this case. One of the other 2-ticket winners has been promoted to the VIP winner, and alternates for the other two prizes have been notified. The website is updated with information regularly, but not right away.

In every Pick 4 drawing, there is a 1 in 10,000 chance of every possible combination being drawn. Ten of those are quads, so there is a 1 in 1,000 chance that one of them will be the winning numbers. Whatever numbers folks like to play, everyone has to have the same chance to win. Good luck!
