$405,396 Cash 5 winner: I'm getting a new tractor

Is there something you've always said you would do if you won the lottery? Big winners tell us they are going to do things like take that vacation they've put off, or start college funds.

William White of Casar had a particular purchase in mind. And after winning the $405,396 Cash 5 jackpot Monday night he said he's going to make it: Buy a new tractor. He got his lucky $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Kountry Korner in Vale.

Clear across the state on the northeastern coast, a mechanic from Elizabeth City said he has traditional plans for his prize money. Bobby English scratched off the top prize on a $250,000 Platinum Payout ticket. And he said he plans to pay off the mortgage.

Big Winners

The remaining two winners who won a third each of the $297,276 Cash 5 jackpot in the Sept. 23 drawing have claimed their shares. Martin Covington of King and Hector Salas of Kenly won $99,092 each. The other winner is Claribel Then of Raleigh.

Three players won $50,000:

- Shirley Davis of Thomasville ($50,000 Bonus Cash)
- Esmond Roberson of Robersonville ($50,000 Platinum Payout)
- Othoniel Vegas of Grandy (July 13 Powerball drawing)

Russell Hunter of Pfafftown is the first to win the top prize of $40,000 in the Double Match game that began this week. There are five more top prizes out there.

Kenneth Whittington Megaplied his way to $25,000 in the Sept. 30 Mega Millions drawing. Heading into Friday's drawing, the jackpot annuity is $41 million ($27.7 million cash).

Thirteen players scratched their way to $10,000:

- Isham Bagley of Morehead City ($1,000,000 Bonus Cash)
- Wilbert Barnes of Elm City (Platinum 7's)
- Soad Boulos of Angier ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- Don Bowman of Mills River (Millionaire Bucks)
- Dalton Brown of Rockwell ($200 Million Blowout)
- Tyler Bryan of Winston-Salem ($250,000 Platinum Payout)
- Kenneth Leazer of Mooresville ($4,000,000 Platinum Payout)
- Ralph Manuel of Winston-Salem ($4,000,000 Platinum Payout)
- Iris Rodriguez of Burlington (Ruby Red 7's)
- Susmita Shrestha of Black Mountain ($250,000 Fortune)
- Fernando White of Wilson (Ruby Red 7's)
- Robert Williams of Raleigh (Ruby Red 7's)
- Demetria Woodley of Rocky Mount (Carolina Millions)

And 11 players won $5,000. They are from Charlotte, Durham, Fayetteville, Lenoir, Maiden, Raleigh, Red Springs, Rowland, Roxboro, Spring Lake, and Winston-Salem.

To everyone in our state and beyond who could be affected by the storm, please don't take chances with the weather. Take care and stay safe this weekend.

" It's not easier or harder to win depending on where you live, there are just more folks taking a chance to win in other places." LuckeZone, that is so unbelievable! I happen to believe that the big prized scratch tickets are selectively distributed to the retailers in the Piedmont cities, especially around Rocky Mount and Winston-Salem. Here in the mountains we only have break-even prizes. NC Lottery
It's not harder to win a big prize in the mountains, there are just fewer people where you live taking a chance to win. Over time every part of the state wins its fair share given how popular the lottery is there. Just a few weeks ago we had a winner from Candler in Buncombe County scratch off $1 million: http://bit.ly/2e0ztOo

@Lucke-Zone Replied If you have been following the weekly winner blogs, you'll see we do have winners in the southeast sometimes. It's not easier or harder to win depending on where you live, there are just more folks taking a chance to win in other places.****************************** There's truth to that but also.... the winning tickets HAVE to BE IN a certain area before anyone that buys them there can win on them ! But yeah, there have been many winners from the SE part of the state too over time . :-)

Stevenraider, Players from asheboro win ALL the time!!!! I see it on the winners page, the winners board, the blogs, the newspaper & the WWW. Did you miss this one on a blog just 2 weeks ago?*** A couple from Randolph County won $200,000 in the Sept. 17 Powerball drawing. Jerry Lambert and his partner Aaron Britt bought their winning ticket at the Ready Mart on Fayetteville Street in their hometown of Asheboro.*** I've seen your same comment on the very blog where there were 2 winners from Asheboro that you failed to see not too long ago.

Yes I congratulate all the winners but I'm curious about something do they not send winning tickets to the southeast of the state every time I look at the map there are never any winning scratch offs in our area. Just curious how they disperse the tickets when they are printed. It seems like all the good scratch seem to skip us. Thank youNC Lottery

The winner of the biggest lottery prize in North Carolina history - $188 million - is from Brunswick County :-)

Not fond of the new emblem or the new map. LZ, I know you don't know why, but I think it is strange that the person that won the cash5 on 9/1 online still has not come forward. I know they have 180 days. When the winning ticket is sold at a retailer the public knows exactly where that ticket was sold. Maybe they are waiting till after 01/01/2017 to claim, for tax purposes.

Could I wear a costume if I had to do a press conference when I win a Jackpot???NC Lottery
If you win a lottery prize of $600 or more, certain pieces of information are public: Your name, your hometown, the game you played, and how much you won. You are not required to be photographed or to do a press conference. If you decided to wear a costume at a press conference, the story would be so unusual that it probably go viral and travel around the world :-)

Congratulations to all of the winners. I had a great time at the Raleigh claim center this week when I went to cash a $1,000 ticket. All of the employees are so nice, and I enjoyed talking to the Spring Lake $5,000 winner. NC Lottery
That's great to hear! Thank you for taking time to share this with us - and congratulations on your $1,000 win :-)
