Holiday games arrive, top prizes up to $1 million

Look who’s back in the social media saddle. We had so much fun with last month’s First Tuesday Takeover that – just like holiday dinners – I’m back for seconds. And you’re gonna want to save room for the new holiday scratch-offs.

The season’s most sensational scratcher is Holiday Millions. As the name suggests, it has top prizes of $1 million. Three of ‘em. And Holiday Riches, Winter Winnings and Merry Money make great gifts. For someone you love, or the you that you love.

And let me just take a second to point out a ticket that makes my heart swell with holiday memories: Christmas Vacation. Clark Griswold is a legend in my eyes. And with three top prizes of $75,000 this game could really light up your night.

Let me tell you North Carolina is the biggest rip off state u tell me how the heck for a good 4 week in pick 4 day and night doubles 7 days a week bull crap and those new 5$ tickets is not putting out no money every now and then 5$ and u have people playing every day on that same row of tickets and not one cent being paid they making about 1.7 to 2 million a day NC Lottery
Sorry you feel that way. Lottery games are games of chance. We encourage people to play for fun and with money set aside for entertainment. The lottery awarded more in prizes last year than ever before.

They will do the same thing all the others are doing,Take your money and give you nothing. The Lottery is the worst thing that ever happen to people.I see it everyday we sell ticket after ticket as many as anyone in the area or maybe the state and we pay out so little.The trash cams are running over with losing tickets.If someone does get lucky it's most of the time money back.Just robbery without a gun. What the lottery does not pay back in prizes, pay to retailers in commissions, or use to operate goes to education. I tried to buy your new ticket Tuesday and was told that they could not sell the ticket to me until the other tickets that were in that slot had to be sold first. I told the cashier that's crazy bcause u are losing money if that's the case. I told her I would have rather made $1 versus no dollarNC Lottery
As you may know, a lottery ticket cannot be sold or submitted for claim until the entire roll of tickets is "activated" by being scanned by the retailer. So when there are "live" tickets taking up all the spaces in the dispenser, the retailer has to sell through that inventory until there is room for a new roll of tickets they can activate and begin selling. We hope you were able to find the ticket at another store :)

The smart software in the production system knows how to reprint exactly the packs of tickets that had to be discarded, ensuring the prizes planned for a game are physically included in the game. Before being shipped to the lottery, every instant game is securely audited by an independent firm. Shipment records and physical inventory guarantees the total volume of packs ordered are received. The number of prizes is confirmed when the electronic file for the game is loaded into our gaming system. And after a game is ended, the entire history of the game is audited again to reconfirm.

Thanks for asking this question because the blog moderators learned a lot about instant tickets that will help us answer questions in the future. While many of the numbers on packs of instant tickets are sequential, many are not. Holding the product to a high standard means that it is routine for hundreds or thousands of packs of tickets to be reprinted with new pack numbers.

In my comments about “Something is amiss with the $4M Multiplier Spectacular.” Of 10/28/2016 08:55: Lucke-Zone Replied “The advertised odds for the game are correct, and the volume of tickets printed was what the lottery ordered from the printing vendor - 10,380,180 tickets. The range of labeled pack numbers for this game is unusually high. But there were the correct number of packs for that quantity - 346,006.” Not true LZ, something is HORRIBLY WRONG here. The game launched March 4, 2014 and claims started with the lowest pack number of 8,102. Then the claims abruptly ended at pack number 200,000. That’s 6 million tickets that were printed. Claims resumed with pack number 396,194 and the last ticket number claimed is 380-612876-027. That’s another 6,500,460 tickets that were printed. This is 2,120,280 additional tickets over the original 10,380,180 AND it changes the overall odds from 1 in 2.96 to 1 in 3.68 and the breakeven odds go from 1 in 7.5 to 1 in 9.3. This game needs a serious investigation.

The rules are clear that a member way win only once per drawing. But there is no rule that says members cannot enter more drawings for more chances to win :)

Why does NCEL roll out Christmas tickets in November? Why not roll them out the first Tuesday of December and have Thanksgiving-themed tickets for November?NC Lottery
To make it possible for there to be enough tickets in the game to support various prize amounts, instant tickets have different lifespans. A $1 game might be on sale for as little as half a year, $20 tickets could be in stores for 18 months or longer. Since holiday-themed games are only really relevant until Dec. 31, it's necessary to put them out earlier so that enough tickets can be sold to pay out the big prizes :)

Is it just me or do we see more winner's in the western part of the STATE? Sorry NCEL check it out for yourself. Folks look at the map....this is discouraging for some of us who live on the coast. It appears that the size of your city gives you a better chance of winning. This is totally unfair. I hope to see changes soon. Ok I've given my 2 cents worth just saying. The odds are not to good from the way I see it if you live in a city in between the larger city. IMPO! NC Lottery
It's not harder to win the lottery where you live, there are just fewer people taking a chance to win where you live. Last week, of the 39 wins of $5,000 to $1 million, most went to players that are not from big cities, including a winner from Holly Ridge, a suburb of Jacksonville, who won $200,000. If you were to ask someone from Raleigh, Charlotte or Asheville if it's easy to win the lottery there, we think you'll hear them say it takes just as much luck.
