Half million dollar jackpot won at Gaston County store

A lucky ticket sold in the town of Stanley won Friday's $518,544 Cash 5 jackpot. Someone bought the winning ticket at the QSC Food Mart on South Main Street.

The winning numbers in the drawing were 1-6-24-26-30.

We'll have a big check waiting for the winner at lottery headquarters. Good luck to everyone in the next drawing!

I am not happy abou the cash five change. It will make it harder to win the first prize. I don't play to win one of the small prizes

Jay is the clerk in my lucky store. I was just using the old saying a little birdie told me, trying to be funny. He was just passing on info his lottery rep told him cause he knows I like to play multi draw tics on the cash5.

The popularity of jackpot games is driven by the size of the jackpot. That's why you've seen Powerball and Mega Millions make changes, too. Cash 5 will continue to pay out the same % to players. The jackpots will just get bigger, faster. It's hardly a sign of the apocalypse! :-D

You're correct on the matrix change. The new game will start on Sunday, May 15 - but, in April, we have to begin what's called a "step-down" - the number of multi-draw tickets a player can buy has to be adjusted to make sure they can't buy a ticket ahead of time for the new version of the game. We'll post a blog about it in the next couple weeks :)
