Playing the lottery can be a lot of fun. But if there comes a time when it doesn’t feel like fun, it could be time to take a break.

Most people play games of chance without it interfering in their lives. But when it does, we want everyone to know that help is easier to find than ever. Thanks to new technology from the N.C. Problem Gambling Program, support is now only a text or click away.

By calling, texting, or using online chats with the Problem Gambling helpline, a player or their loved ones can receive referrals for free, confidential sessions with a local counselor. Help is available 24 hours a day by:

We’re sharing the news about the new services to support “Problem Gambling Awareness Month” this March. Ever wondered what the warning signs are? They include:

• Argumentative and defensive about gambling behavior
• Unexplained absences for long periods of time
• Lies to loved ones about gambling behavior
• Going without basic needs in order to gamble
• Borrowing money to gamble

How often does a quad come out?NC Lottery
Of the 10,000 possible number combinations that could win a prize in any Pick 4 drawing, 10 of them are quads. That means there is a 1 in 1,000 chance that a quad will be drawn in every drawing. Statistically, that means we expect to see a quad about once every 1,000 drawings. But that's what makes lottery drawings fun... you never know!!! :)

I feel as though they should not put the odds of winning on the back because it's a Lie, even if it states approximately. I purchased (10)$10 tickets which statutes 1:3.36. odds of winning. The first 8 I scratched off were not winners. The next one was a prize of $15. The last 2 were not winners. This is what upset a lot of people because you have them thinking their odds of winning or breaking even is 1:3.36. Something should be done about that!!! The odds of winning are accurate and set at the beginning of the game. Then the winning and non-winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the rolls of tickets. You have the same odds of winning on every ticket - sometimes it only takes one to win. If you have more questions, please call customer service at 877-962-7529

Wow, what a week! Out of 20 States there were 8 $5000 winners in the LFL game and NC had 3 of them! Someone from New Hampshire won the big one, $1000 a day for life.

OMG IF I HAD BEEN PLAYING MY B/D NUMBERS IN THE MARCH 3RD LUCKY FOR LIFE DRAWING I WOULD HAVE HAD 4 OUT OF 5 RIGHT....MISSED THE 5TH BY 1 NUMBER.....LOL JUST MY LUCK 200.00 WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE....I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK WHEN I SAW THE WINNING NUMBERS FOR LAST NIGHT.....

So glad to see someone won the AON top prize today and as of today there were 17 different winners in 15 different towns that won 1k in the LFL 2nd chance drawing. Come on players, take time to think about how many millions of people play the lottery and how few win. Think of it as buying a raffle ticket for a good cause. The odds are you are not going to win, but you bought that ticket anyway. Just food for thought.

Why do you make more losing tickets then winning tickets? The other day I bought 6 $10 Platinum 7s ticket and only won 15 dollars. Make the games more fun to play. At least we should get one win out of every three tickets.NC Lottery
It would be cool if every ticket could win a lottery prize. But it is exactly because some tickets don't win prizes that you could win more than the cost of a ticket. Prize money comes from the tickets that don't win. There is never a guarantee with games of chance - it will always take luck to win. We wish all our players luck!

LZ, can you explain to my fellow players the difference between the contests on the top half of the winners page and the bottom half. Just saying that might help with some of the frustration some players are having finding info.NC Lottery
Hey Turbo, thanks for the suggestion! We have been responding on a case-by-case basis. One day the Lucke-Zone will have a full make-over, and we hope it'll make things like that more intuitive :)

I've read a lot of comments on various blogs and it shocked me how much money people were complaining about spending. I'm glad to see a post like this. The lottery is never in favor of everyone getting lucky, that's just reality.

LZ, don't you mean the winners will be posted after they claim their prize? You will have to do the same thing to see the results of the BBQ drawing also. I think the LZ did a great job cleaning up the winners page. Too bad sooo many PPL don't know how to navigate this web site. I have been a member since day one and I am still learning.NC Lottery

The winners will be posted once they are notified, and complete the claim process. To find the winners go under the winners tab on the site, and make sure the drop down menu next to the second-chance drawing header says all.
