Sunday's $421,112 Cash 5 jackpot split in Pitt, Wake counties

Two tickets for Sunday's Cash 5 drawing beat the odds to split the $421,112 jackpot to win $210,556 apiece.

The winning numbers were 1-4-11-14-25.

One ticket was sold at the Sheetz on Millbrook Green Drive in Raleigh. The other was sold in the small town of Winterville, just outside Greenville, at the Handy Mart on N.C. 11 South.

The lucky ticketholders have 180 days to collect their prize money at lottery headquarters.

Besides the $50,000 jackpot for Monday's Cash 5 drawing, more jackpot drawings are coming soon, with a $72 million annuity worth $47.5 million cash on the line in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing and a $184 million annuity worth $122.4 million cash up for grabs in Wednesday's Powerball drawing.

The 80-year-old Army veteran has been using the same numbers for years. And on Sunday they ended up as the winning ones. Congrats to Peter Mazzei on your win with your picks. I have been playing two sets of birthday numbers also, Every since the lottery came here to NC. So far, no big win as of yet. 10 years of playing them same numbers, sure will be happy when they finally do come up for me. Just hope it's not 20 years from now! That's when i will be 80. Y'all say, it takes luck to win! I believe it to. Waiting on the LUCK to hit me. Good Luck everyone! P.S. Strange how his picks came up vs the other guy was quick picks of the same number. Just seems like Mr Mazzei picks would have won him the whole jackpot!

Lucke-Zone Replied There were 399,347 entries made into that drawing. While we're talking about it, there were 400,000 entries made into the monthly drawing as of Sunday at midnight. Good luck! Wow, my chances remain slim to none, lol

I live in waynesville NC in Haywood county I realize there have been a few ppl won random amts near me but 99% of the winners are on the east end. I have monitored cash 5 drawings and winnings and played almost daily but I'm about ready to give up playing all together.NC Lottery
Of the 10 million people who live in North Carolina, only about 60,000 live in Haywood County. That means that about 99% of everyone who lives in the state lives east of where you live. It isn't harder to win the lottery if you live in a small town in the mountains. There are just LOTS more people taking a chance to win in other places. We hope you'll play for fun knowing it takes luck to win - just ask someone in Charlotte or on the coast if it's easy to win... it takes luck no matter what! :-)

I see a whole lot of people is feeling a certain way about the lottery. I always said when the cash 5 gets big, someone from down east will win. Lord knows I being playing luckee-zone from day one. I haven't won anything. I played games worth 50 points, and played 50 points a day 30 and 31 days. I didn't win nothing. I read who the winners are, and sometimes some of them has 2&3 times.WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?NC Lottery

I understand that someone that worked for the lottery at one time cracked the code and program his numbers twice but got caught the second time. If that is true, then the lottery can manipulate the jack pot, plus decide what the winning numbers will be, would love to hear your feedback.NC Lottery
Our random number generator system is independently certified has a multi-tiered approach to security, which protects it from anyone having access to even attempt the type of manipulation alleged in that case.

@Yeaken Yes! Tipton enlisted his brother and others to run a multi-statewide scam by installing undetectable software. They made off like a fat cat. He's not the only one who did this.... Do NC Education Lottery use the same random-number generators from the Iowa-based association, which administers games and distributes prizes for the lottery consortium. It says 37 states do but doesn't provide me with the ones except for the ones that the scam was caught in.NC Lottery
We use independently-certified random number generators. We have safeguards in places here in North Carolina that would have prevented any opportunity to commit the fraud that is alleged in the case you're referring to.

whats going on with the new 10th anniversary tickets. I have bought abot 200 hundred dollars worth 5 and 10 dollars worth and have not even won 5 dollars.so I asked the attendant at the store if he has seen any winners from the sale of these tickets and he said no.NC Lottery

A Cash 5 ticket has just as good a chance of matching all five numbers to win no matter where it's printed. It's not easier to win a lottery prize in a big city, there are just more people taking a chance to win there. Please play for fun knowing it takes luck to win a prize!

I agree I've played cash 5 nearly ever day for last 4 mths but the winners are always on opposite end of the state and very rarely on the western end I'm beginning to think it's rigged somehow and I may just stop playing completely since my money just goes to people on opposite end of the state.NC Lottery

We did answer your question directly, but wanted to provide more information to you than a simple "yes" or "no." The answer is that there is no limit to the range of numbers that can be generated on a Quick Pick based on what store you buy at. It's a completely random result :-)

@YEAKEN, I know. The NC QP can be frustrating.Last week I got 57,58,59,60,62 PB 1. I left the store knowing very well that the only chance of winning I had then was only if Eddie Tipton came to my rescue.Aometimes ppl land on good/lucky numbers. The ticket entry system to claim Lucke-Rewards points was never intended to be a "ticket checker." What changed is that now any lottery ticket, for a draw game or instant game, winning or non-winning, is worth Lucke-Rewards points. Playing the lottery is supposed to be fun - please check your tickets carefully to see if you're a winner! :-)

There would be a record in the system that you entered it using your Lucke-Zone account, which would help in the case there was a dispute about who it belonged to. But the best way to protect yourself as a player is to sign your ticket, keep it in a safe place and cash it in for your prize money! :)

Lol. Can everyone say Eddie Tipton? Iowa still selling tickets every day. Anyway could you please verify something for me and all players? Are the terminals at retailers limited with programs that only have certain number of combinations of numbers? My brother got quick pick with exactly same numbers within a week at same store. So I asked a retailer if terminal had certain program. He wouldn't say it aloud but nodded yes. If that's true then odds on powerball and Megamillions just got worse. Thanks in advanceNC Lottery
We have safeguards in place here that would have prevented someone from doing what is alleged in that case, which has nothing to do with any of the games we offer. Our security practices are reviewed independently on a regular basis. On question about Quick Picks, we will check with our Gaming Systems experts and reply back here :-)

when you put in the tickets(non-winning) to the lucke zone site,why don't it say whether the tickets are winners or not? sometimes I put my winning ticket numbers in for the points but it doesn't say I won???NC Lottery
The Lucke-Zone ticket entry system is not meant to be a "ticket checker" - we hope you'll play every ticket to find out if you won! You can always take them to a store to have them checked :-)

Yeah I know Yeaken. It's becoming very predictable of the areas that will win Cash 5 and the second chance drawings. Might win more money betting on the location of winners will be than on the actual drawings lol but Congrats and we know we know it's all about luck.
