William Purvis was visiting his family over the Easter holiday weekend in his home town of Jacksonville. That Saturday he stopped at the Kangaroo Express on Piney Green Road where he bought a Millionaire Bucks ticket. He scratched it off and saw he won $100,000. “I feel so blessed,” Purvis said as he collected his winnings Tuesday. “Between my family and this, this is the icing on the cake.” Purvis, a Vietnam Veteran, said he'd use his winnings to pay bills.
Glenda Johnson of Chapel Hill is the winner of Sunday's $53,000 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot. She bought her lucky ticket at the Buy & Go on Ephesus Church Road in Chapel Hill.
