Free 'Lucky for Life' ticket promotion starts Sunday

What's more fun than a chance to win the prize of a lifetime? How about an extra chance to win at no extra cost?

Starting Sunday, April 3 when you make a $4 purchase on a single Lucky for Life ticket, you'll get a free Quick Pick ticket.

Since Lucky for Life tickets went on sale here in North Carolina in February, we've had two tickets win the second prize of $25,000 a year for life and 18 tickets win $5,000 prizes in the drawings held every Monday and Thursday night. The top prize in the game is $1,000 a day for life - guaranteed to a winner or his or her estate for at least 20 years - but will last as long as the winner lives.

We are looking forward to meeting more Lucky for Life winners. Between now and May 14, you can get an extra chance to win.

I've been advised by several retailers that I can't buy ONE number for 2 DRAWS and recv the free ticket. they insist I have to buy 2 NUMBERS for 1 DRAW. is this true? I've yet to get one to give me ONE NUMBER for 2 CONSECUTIVE DRAWS, and get the free ticketNC Lottery
It sounds like they are misunderstanding how the promotion works. Any $4 purchase for a single ticket - whether two sets of numbers for one draw, or one set of numbers for two draws - will result in the free ticket being printed. Would you please call our customer service team to share more information about which stores are telling you this? 877-962-7529

Why does the story of the mechanic claiming the top prize only get a cash payout of only 708,000 before taxes, but in an answer on a post above you say the cash value is 5.7 million?NC Lottery
The mechanic won the top prize on a $1,000 a Week for Life! scratch-off ticket. The top prize in the Lucky for Life draw game is $1,000 a day, every day, for life.

from Oreo i purchase my $4 dollar ticket monday april 4-2016 at 12:30pm at GP gas station on Jonestown road winston-salem,nc gets what i got 2 out of 6 and won $3:00 dollars, plus i got the free tickets to play on Thursday April 7-2016,even if you got 2 numbers right you still won something,good luck to everyone from 'Oreo"!

@ TNT - When you're talking about 4 tickets out of millions, one showing up at HQ to collect on a big win changes the odds equation dramatically, doesn't it! There are all kinds of possible scenarios: Have one or more of them already been scratched? Is one sitting in someone's glove compartment and they don't realize it? Has one been thrown away by accident? We sure hope it's not the last one! Good luck to you :)

I live a little west of 95 and I must say have been very lucky playing scratch offs, some to well over 5 figures. Always have played lucky zone and have never won a thing But here is the thing. The $4 million Multiplier has about 11% of it's tickets remaining and has 2 of the 4 top prizes left at $4 million each. Also 2 of the $1 million prizes left. With let's say 1.2 million tickets left, the odds of winning at least $1 million are 1 in 300k. You will not find better odds anywhere. Any explanation for this?

ok, so if you buy $ 8.00 worth ( 4 draws) then you need to have 2 draws on 2 diff. tickets in order to get 2 free quick picks, correct? You cannot get 2 free quick picks if all 4 draws are on the same ticket?NC Lottery

You can check and see which drawings you're entered into. An entry you make has just as good a chance of winning as anyone else's - good luck! :-D

Some promotions are only available at retail locations. You aren't excluded from participating, you'd just have to make a purchase at retail :)

It has to be a Lucky for Life purchase of at least $4 on a single ticket - when you make a qualifying purchase, a message printed on the top of the ticket will remind you to ask for your free ticket :-)

It has to be a Lucky for Life purchase of at least $4 on a single ticket - if you made a qualifying purchase, it would say so on the top of the ticket and remind you to ask for your free ticket.

Does the free quick pick work when yo u make a $4 dollar purchase from a machine in a grocery store or does it have to come from a gas station purchaseNC Lottery
We will have to check with our gaming systems folks on Monday to make sure on that - but we know if you buy one from a clerk who prints the ticket for you at a terminal, you can definitely get your free ticket that way.
