Double take confirms $10,000 win for dance studio owner

John Hipsky says that, when he scratched off his $200 Million Blowout ticket outside of the 7-Eleven on Sam Furr Road in Huntersville, he had to go back in to double check what he saw. The Mecklenburg County resident would learn soon enough that the $10,000 prize was no optical illusion.

Hipsky claimed his winnings Tuesday at our regional claims center in Charlotte. He says he’ll use his prize money to buy gifts for his daughters and maybe try his luck in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

With his claim, one top prize of $4 million, six prizes of $1 million, eighteen prizes of $50,000 and fifty-one prizes of $10,000 are still in play.

Well lets see, winning 10 thousand would be a great win for me! Take a trip to Key West FLA! But last night drawing for the Cash 5 was a four number right for me! My picks that i play all the time, won me 275 last night! Missed the 2nd number, i had 10 and it was 17, WOW!! only one number away from the jackpot! But the four numbers right sure did make me happy! It has been a very long time since i have won with 4 numbers right, like 3 years! Looks like the unmitigated greed of the state is having a reverse effect... First with the Mega, and then with the PBall, they odds of winning any non-jackpot prize was reduced to near zero. Since with the Pball I could count on a 4 dollar winner at least once a week, I was encouraged to play $10, but now that I never win squat, I reduced my play to $1 maybe once a week. The same with the Pick 5... I used to buy 5, win $1, and go back in and spend $4 more for another 5. NO MORE, because the odds have been reduced just enough that those non-jackpot prizes are not won anymore. Greedy to the point of abusive. Players want to feel like that have a chance to win that $20 or $50, and they probably will spend it on more chances. A bonehead play and a net loss for the states, I would assume. But maybe fools spending billions to win one $200 million prize makes up for it.
