In small mountain town, a big jackpot ticket

Have you heard of Marshall, North Carolina? Close to the Tennessee border, it's about 20 miles north of Asheville and is home to less than 1,000 people. It's possible one of those folks bought the Cash 5 ticket that won Thursday's $368,867 jackpot.

Someone bought the ticket at the Ingles on U.S. 25/70. It was the only ticket for the drawing to match all five numbers, which were 3-11-27-31-37. The lucky ticketholder has 180 days to collect the prize money at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

Big Winners

Speaking of jackpots, heading into the weekend, there are two multimillion dollar jackpots that players in our state have the chance to win.

Friday's Mega Millions jackpot weighs in at a $310 million annuity, worth $211.1 million cash. Then, in Saturday's Powerball drawing, there is a $169 million annuity on the line, worth $114.2 million cash.

I've play Cash 5 a lot and have one a lot. No,, I've not yet won the jackpot but I've won 4 out of 5 numbers 13 times over the past two years, so my streak is good. Keep playing and your time will come.

As you know, the numbers history on our website displays the numbers in order of smallest to largest. To get the history as you're describing, it would probably take a formal public records request. You can e-mail playerinfo@lotterync.net to do that.

Yea, i know what you mean LILROSIEPOSIE. I also have been playing two sets of the same number that long also! 6-14-16 drawing, on the cash5 that night 4 of my numbers came out and won me 275.00 dollars. Missed the jackpot by one measly little ole number! I was glad to win, just wish my luck would have help me out on the only number i needed to win 234,000 dollars that night! Oh, well! Maybe next time if it don't take so long to hit it again! Good Luck everyone!

I've been playing the same numbers for 10 years every single draw and I live in Fayetteville and never won either - it drives me crazy when I read about people winning multiple times or the guy that decided to just buy a ticket one day and hit it big ?? so it's whatever - I still play the same numbers because I am afraid if I stop or change it then it will hit and then I'd have to .... Sigh... ??

It isn't easier or harder to win a prize depending on where you live or play the lottery. There are lots of people in the cities you mentioned taking a chance to win, but if you ask someone from those places, they'll tell you the same thing we are: It takes luck to win!
