$1 million ‘Mega’ ticket sold in North Carolina

Someone who played Mega Millions in Cabarrus County won $1 million last night. A lucky ticket purchased at the SM Mart on Poplar Tent Road in Concord near Charlotte matched all five white balls to win the seven-figure prize.

The winning numbers were 11-14-54-57-63 for the white balls and 11 for the gold Mega Ball.

Because there was no perfect ticket in the drawing, the jackpot annuity for Tuesday’s drawing has grown to $390 million, worth $265.4 million cash.

The jackpot hasn't been this big in more than two years.

Friday's $1 million-winning ticket is the second in as many weeks to win a prize of that size in the game. Four Wilmington-area co-workers split the $1 million they won in the June 10 drawing.

For players who like the multistate jackpot games, Saturday night is the next chance to win a big one. Heading into the Powerball drawing, the jackpot annuity stands at $203 million, worth $138.2 million cash.

Has anyone that has the subscription service ever won anything other than a few dollars? Seems everybody that wins any large amount get their tickets from convenience stores. I have been with the service since the beginning picking random numbers in all the games.NC Lottery
Whether you Quick Pick or choose your own numbers on a ticket at a store or play via subscription, you have the same chance to win a prize. The VAST majority of lottery tickets are still sold at retail locations. But that doesn't make it easier or harder to win :) A Mega Millions ticket sold via subscription won $5,000 in the June 17 drawing! :)

Lucke-Zone, your response to BIGWIN is not entirely forthright. Each bundle has a number assigned. In that bundle there are X number of tickets. Each ticket has a ticket number and an entry number. To each ticket number and entry number there are winning numbers and prizes, or non-winners. All of this information is in your database. So when a retailer orders a bundle, via your database you know if there are winners and the prize amount of winners in the bundle. So yes you do know which bundles contain winners and "could" direct bundles with the top prizes to regions, even a specific retailer. A simple database query would reveal which bundle contains winning tickets, winning amounts, retailer or warehouse location and whether the bundle had been activated.

Lucke-Rewards drawings are done using a certified random number generator. If there are 10 prizes to be awarded in the drawing, 10 winning entries are chosen at random all at once :-)

Guys, guess how I win??? Trash for Treasure. I collect all of the losing tickets and enter them. It took almost a year or more to win, but I didn't spend money to win the $500 on the Wednesday 5 for $500. I do budget $20 a month to spend on Scratch offs and have won a few $ here or there. The most has been $90 I think. But I've made it a hobby on getting the tickets you throw away, and it keeps the parking lots and grounds clean. Have saw any lottery tickets as part of trash lying around. There are winners every week.

One of the great things about lottery drawings is that one has nothing to do with another... we could have had five $1 million winners Friday night and guess what: A ticket for Tuesday's drawing has just as good a chance of winning $1 million or the jackpot! :-)

Thank you for the answer. I noticed that the e-receipts for the subscription purchases don't come with a luck rewards entry code. So I take it the subscriptions are not redeemable for lucky rewards points. Is that correct?NC Lottery

Keep in mind that the odds of winning at least a break-even prize (1 in 2.82 on Ultimate Millions) is a separate statistic compared to how much the game pays out in total prizes. Ultimate Millions began with four top prizes of $10 million, 18 prizes of $1 million, and three more $1 million prizes that will be awarded through second chance.

To the person with the scratch off ticket above. Yes NCEL Does know which scratch offs have a big pay out and you are right. They choose where to put those tickets. Notice most winners of top prizes from scratch offs are from Raleigh, Charlotte, etc. It is rigged in a way. I use to work for the PA lottery so I do know this is true. NCEL stop lying about the information you know to be true and correct.NC Lottery
You don't have to take our word for it - ask someone from Charlotte or Raleigh if it's easy to win the lottery just because you live in a big city. It's not easier to win there - there are just more people taking a chance to win. It's the lottery - it takes luck no matter where you play! :)

I've been playing the same numbers since the NC lottery first began over 10 years ago and have never hit yet we see people buy one random ticket and hit it big and then the SAME people hit it again and again and it's not rigged? Ok. I'm afraid not to play my numbers every week cause I don't know what I would do if I didn't play them and they hit 0.o I'm not even greedy - just enough to live my remaining years debt free, comfortable, and in peace would make me happy! You will receive an email notice stating that your winnings under $600 will automatically be placed in your Winnings account. You may use these funds or extend your subscriptions (up to 1 year), purchase more Subscription games, or request a check be mailed to you. If you win $600 or more, you will receive an email and a notification in your Message Center instructing you to file a Claim Form :-)

All scratch offs come in individual stacks. And these stacks are distributed randomly. I was told by a "reliable lottery source" that NCEL know which stacks have winners and winning amounts. Also, this source stated that NCEL chooses which geographical areas where these scratch offs are sent. With that being the case, it does not sound random to me. Can you provide an explanation please?NC Lottery
