The growing Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots made for some big wins this week. Tickets sold in Concord and Greenville both turned out to be lucky ones.
A retired couple from Texas took home $1 million after they bought a Mega Millions ticket during their trip to North Carolina.
Joseph and Anetia Roseman of Magnolia, Texas were visiting friends when they stopped at the S.M. Mart on Poplar Tent Road in Concord. Anetia decided to purchase a $1 Quick Pick ticket for the June 24th drawing.
Joseph realized they won the next morning. He immediately told his wife.
“I asked her,” Joseph said, “‘What do you get when you match five numbers in Mega Millions?’”
“One million dollars,” she said.
“I guess you won a million then,” Joseph replied.
Friday’s Mega Millions drawing features a $415 million jackpot as an annuity or $286.4 million in cash. This is the 3rd largest jackpot in the game’s 14-year history.
