Disbelief. It's a common reaction we hear folks report when they've had extraordinary luck. That's what Gavonna Craig, a loom fixer from the small town of Lawndale in Cleveland County, told us he experienced after he scratched off an Ultimate Millions ticket and won $1 million instantly. Craig said he plans to buy a house.
So the best story of the week also happens to be the biggest. But we had two other players win six-figure prizes. And they have fun stories too.
William Graves, a resident of Mint Hill in Mecklenburg County, bought a Cash 5 ticket for the first time - and it won him the $205,795 jackpot. He bought his extremely lucky ticket for the July 7 drawing at Earp's BP on Fairview Road in Charlotte.
On the coast of North Carolina in Carteret County, a Morehead City man turned $150 in scratch-off wins into a $150,000 top prize on a $5 Wheel of Fortune ticket. Joseph Rose bought the winning ticket at the Handy Mart on Arendell Street in his hometown.

We had two $50,000 winners. Justin Williams of Rocky Mount and David White of High Point won playing 10th Anniversary Millions and $50,000 Bonus Cash, respectively. And Laura Whitehurst of Greenville won the top prize of $20,000 playing Cash Inferno. That leaves one more top prize up for grabs in that game.
Fourteen players won $10,000 this week, including Ulyess Garren of Etowah, who won the prize in the July 8 Mega Millions drawing. The other 13 came on lucky scratches:
- Dominique Scott of Durham ($400,000 Bonus Cash)
- Nannette Walston of Cove City ($400,000 Bonus Cash)
- Debra Thomas of Charlotte ($10,000 Bonus Cash)
- Brandon Wells of Fletcher (Ruby Red 7's)
- Debra Thomas of Charlotte (Millionaire Bucks)
- Jerry McClure of Waynesville ($1,000,000 Bonus Cash)
- Chad Johansen of Lumberton ($10,000 Bonus Cash)
- Jeffrey Setzer of Hickory (Ruby Red 7's)
- Ramon Pina of Raleigh ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- Cynthia Robinson of Raeford (Millionaire Bucks)
- Mark Wilder of Sanford ($2,500 a Week for Life!)
- Sharon Moore of Weaverville (Ruby Red 7's)
- Jiovonni Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids (Carolina Black)
We awarded 22 prizes of $5,000 this week. Two wins apiece went to winners from Durham, Goldsboro, Raleigh and Wilmington. The other 14 went to folks from Asheboro, Bladenboro, Greensboro, Hendersonville, Kinston, Liberty, Lincolnton, Mars Hill, Pittsboro, Salisbury, Spring Hope, Stemp, Wake Forest and Weaverville.
If you're counting, that makes 42 big wins in the last week. Want to see more wins from more places? Check out last week's blog post.
Until next time, hope you have a fun and safe weekend. see you soon here in the Lucke-Zone.
