Salon owner's $1 million story is best of the week

Thanks to a lucky $1,000,000 Bonus Cash ticket, a Fayetteville salon owner is the biggest winner of the week. Melanie Bacchus is the first to win the top prize in the new game. She told her fiancée that they won - but he didn't believe her until he saw the ticket. "We jumped for joy," Bacchus said.

They weren't the only winners celebrating. Two Cash 5 jackpots made three players very lucky. Darryl Wilburn of Denver won $387,254 in the June 29 drawing. And Evangeline Kelly of Fayetteville and Emoki Manning of Southern Pines won $246,187 each in the July 17 drawing.

Sisters from the Triangle area are sharing the top prize they won playing $250,000 Fortune. Hai Zheng of Cary and Yaxiu Zheng of Durham bought their lucky ticket at the Carlie C's on Wake Forest Highway in Durham.

A Charlotte woman's $150,000 Powerball prize rounds out the week's top-tier wins. Nefertiti Jones Power Played her way to the prize money in the July 13 drawing.

Two players from Asheville won big prizes in recent lottery drawings. George Clinkscales won the $85,610 jackpot in Wednesday's Cash 5 drawing. And Jesus Garcia won $50,000 in the July 16 Powerball drawing.

Another $50,000 Powerball prize belongs to Sheryl Bryant of Fayetteville. She won the prize in Wednesday's drawing.

Two players scatched their way to $50,000 each. Westley Farley of Bryson City in Swain County won playing Ultimate Millions and Regina Webb of Hendersonville won on a Ruby Red Crossword ticket.

Evette Days of Raleigh won $10,000 in the July 8 Mega Millions drawing. Nine other players won $10,000 instantly:
