Winning $25,000 A Year For Life lottery ticket about to expire

One Lucky For Life player could have the prize of a lifetime and not even know it. A winning ticket worth $25,000 A Year For Life will expire on Oct. 7.

The winner could get $25,000 a year for the rest of his or her life or take a cash prize of $500,000.

The ticket for the April 11 drawing was sold at the Harris Teeter on N.C. 55 in Cary.

It takes a lot of luck to win, we hate to see any prize go unclaimed. So double check your tickets and help us spread the word. Here are the winning numbers from the April 11 drawing:

4-12-16-20-24 and 18

The lucky ticket matched the five numbers on the white balls.

To claim the prize, you must bring the ticket to lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. The deadline is the end of the 180-day period winners have to claim their prize.

This ticket is one of nine from North Carolina that have won the game’s 2^nd biggest prize, since the game started.

The prize went unclaimed. Half of the prize money will go to education, the other half will go back into the prize pool for players to have the chance to win in the future.

Lucke-Zone Replied Retailers are eligible for incentives for selling big-winning tickets.**************** What I'm saying is when some of the retailers ARE the big winners ( and there have been quite a few ) then they get their winnings AND the incentives...hence they are double dipping !

To use your points for the weekly & monthly drawings. Click on the green tab that says drawings. There is always a weekly & monthly drawing. Points vary. Choice which one & how many points u want to use. U can always click on the promotions tab to get lots of info about contests. Hope that helps newbie.

If a person has won many lottery prizes, it's impossible to tell how lucky they are without knowing how often they play. While we don't encourage people to play more than they can afford to spend on entertainment, taking more chances to win over time will result in more wins. Also the prize information on our website is not a historical dictionary of big wins, they are examples of big wins. If someone with a retail association presents a ticket for claim, those claims are given extra attention and we only award the prize if everything checks out. We are sharing so that folks don't jump to conclusions. Ralph Havis has won huge prizes three times and he doesn't sell lottery tickets, he sells hamburgers :)

HOW can that happen, are there actually customers who rely on the store clerks to scratch and read the tickets the customer just bought for them ? I'm scratching my head on this one. :)

TURBO, I've seen that article before and it's true the lady mentioned in the article has won about a dozen times. Only once this year though, $1K prize claimed on 2/16/2016. Another interesting note is that two people with the same last name won 5 more times at that same store...relatives or coincidence? That store has had 48 winners of $1K or more with 16 of those wins going to the surname mentioned. So 33% of the wins out of that store went to folks with the same last name...pretty good odds if you ask me (but NCEL won't investigate - it's all just good luck)! And yes I have all of the winner data loaded into a spreadsheet, updated weekly as NCEL updates their web site. Currently I have 135,498 entries in the spreadsheet. I also update the scratch off remaining prizes daily to keep up with trends. SCRATCH OFF ALERT coming in another post.

Turbo,good article you suggested! Read it all and have come to the conclusion that it needs to made mandatory that each selling outlet have one of those ticket scanners to see if someone has won. Scan first and then approach the counter.Not sure who has to pay for that-but don't really care. I used to own a convenience store and let me tell you-i got hit for over 30,000 from one employee who would ring up lotto tkts under different catagories of merchandise-Didn't have a scanner back then. Finally realized that when mankind and gambling come together all bets are off!

I'm getting a little confused. I add my tickets to the Lucky Zone, and some of them don't qualify. I like to know about the Harvest Moon, I don't see it in the store where I shop. Is it possible to transfer some of my points to these games? ThanksNC Lottery

Thinking about these store employees that are winning far too often & the suspicious nature of it all. Wondering, why not put vending machines in those stores where there have been too many "employee wins" strikes?! Know the vending machines are costly but let's keep the playing field level and FAIR for all who buy these tickets !! Ideally vending machines should be in ALL the stores but prob. not practical at this time.

The retailer is eligible for an incentive for selling a big-winning ticket for a draw game even if the prize goes unclaimed.

The question we get most often has to do with winner notification and winner announcements as it relates to Lucke-Rewards and promotional drawings. Winners are typically notified by email within 48 hours. So for a drawing held on a Wednesday, winners can expect a message by 5 p.m. Friday. If a winner does not respond to email notification, we will follow up with a telephone call and, if necessary, send certified mail. We announce a winner’s name only after he or she has responded to notification and completes the claim process. We understand why folks are eager to find out who won but, until a prize is claimed, we don’t officially have a winner.

Is anyone else having problems loading their wallet? The gaming people told me visa debit and mastercard debit will not work due to an updated merchant code. I was able to use a visa debit gift card before but not now. NC Lottery
Sorry you had trouble. Could you call Customer Service at (877) 962-7529 and report this. If you can provide the bank that issued the card, the lottery can look into this.
