Tuesday's Cash 5 jackpot just shy of $1 million

Is this jackpot deja vu? For the second time in less than two weeks the Cash 5 jackpot is hovering around the $1 million mark.

Tuesday night's estimated $989,000 jackpot could be won by a single ticket, split by multiple tickets - or surpass $1 million for the next drawing.

Should the jackpot roll into seven-figure territory it would be remarkable for two reasons. It would be just the fifth time in the game's history - and the second time in less than two weeks - that the jackpot would top $1 million.

The Jan. 12 jackpot was split by three lucky winners, each winning a $335,141 share. The winners were from Harmony, Pineville and Winston-Salem.

The largest jackpot ever hit by a single winner is Homer Buffaloe. The farmer from Zebulon won $1.14 million in March 2013.

The biggest Cash 5 jackpot ever was $1.35 million. It was split by three lucky tickets that matched all five numbers in May 2011.

thanks so much and I just thought about it but after we enter the numbers here we don't even need to keep those tickets, do we? I am keeping these because they were given to me by someone else. If one of those tickets should win then the $$ would be there's.... to split with me, of course . :)

hey LZ, on some scratch offs I entered here I just wrote " done" at the top of some so I would know not to try and re-enter those ticket numbers ...that would not disqualify a winning ticket would it? NC Lottery
You're good. Writing that would not disqualify a winning ticket from being eligible for a prize claim :)

I was very excited last night's drawing for the Mega Million. I thought I had all the numbers, as soon as I looked at my ticket I only had two numbers right. So I won $8.00 not bad huh. Definitely! The odds of winning by playing through web-based subscription services are the same as if you buy a ticket at a store. It's just that the overwhelming majority of lottery tickets are still sold at stores. But we've had a $20,000 Powerball winner and a $15,000 Mega Millions winner through subscription purchases.

Why is it when you buy a $20 or $30 scratch off you never win anything not even $2,but when I buy a $2 or $5 I can win $100.This makes no sense and it's just lot of money gone if you can't at least get your money back.Its never winners in Fuquay or Holly springs area ,seems it's mostly N/W of Raleigh .

Turbo is correct. A simple google search returned these statistics;"Your odds of being struck by lightning this year(2016)are 1 in 960,000. In your lifetime those odds drop to about 1 in 12,000. Your odds of being struck by lightning twice in your lifetime are 1 in 9 million, which is still a higher chance than winning the Powerball.Jan 13, 2016." Play responsibly folks and only gamble with what you can afford to lose. Having said that, you still have to play to win and I do play Cash 5 quite often but I set personal limits on my ticket purchases.

You can ask, wish, hope, beg and pray all you want. I don't think that's how it works. It's all about the LUCK and nothing else. Lottery tickets don't care where you live, your religion, your race, age or anything else. Odds are you are not going to win, except that fact and spend only what you can afford to loose.
