Grand prize winner receives tree of holiday tickets

James Woodlief of High Point is busy preparing for the holiday season. But on Tuesday, he traveled to the lottery’s Greensboro office to pick up a prize just for him – a tree of holiday scratch-offs and $100 gift card.

“This is really great,” said Woodlief. “I just feel really good. Real grateful.”

Woodlief, who only entered once in #GiftADream, was surprised when he was told he had won the grand prize.

“When I told my wife”, said Woodlief. “She said, ‘Let me see it.’ She didn’t believe me!”

Woodlief said he plans on using the prize to help with, ‘Christmas for the family.’

The grand prize drawing ended four weeks of dreams. Inspiring, heartfelt, and sometimes funny, we enjoyed reading everyone’s dreams on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

As 2017 comes close to an end, we are looking forward to meeting more big winners.

There are still all three top prizes of $1 million in the Holiday Millionaire game and three $150,000 prizes in the Season’s Gold game, making for great gifts for adults this holiday season.

Congrats to all the winners.... But what I would like to see is that the NCEL bring us the fireball to our pick3 and pick4 and make it permanent fixture to our game.Also our one off game need a upgrade so if you play it and you've the number as it come out you still get paid.This will make more folks liking to play the game.The state of Georgia has this... I say "Thank You NCEL, by offering those second chance drawing, those of us who are avid players are given a "second chance to win" no play no win. No gripes here....

Same old story I can"t win anything big.been playing for a long time. Put some big money in Ahoskie. All te big winners are some where else.

Although the lottery is not required by statute to have an auditor present for drawings where prizes of less than $5,000 are awarded, we do have a member of our internal audit staff present for those drawings without exception. In fact, the room that houses the random number generator cannot be accessed without members of both the lottery's security and audit staff present. Players can also attend those drawings. Also, the random number generator used for Lucke-Rewards, second-chance and promotional drawings is independently certified. The certification includes two parts: A source code review to ensure every line of the system's source code contains no malicious or extra lines of code, and a review of data samples provided by the RNG

agree with Mike S. I think the system needs to be redone with new programmers with multiple programmers that watch each other while redoing it, all being from different parts of the state. these kind of systems have been rigged before where they sneak in a program to come up with a certain result.

It's just luck to win, I only had one entry for this drawing but on the LuckEZone entry's I work hard by entering as many tickets as I can every day. That's the only way to win!! If you enter you have a chance,the more entries the more chances. I know the odds are not good but you have to enter to win.

Why don't Food Lion and Harris Teeter have the big scratch off ticket? I was told by a clerk the would not have the ticket because it does not fit in the machine. Why can't they have a ticket dispenser at the c/s counter? NC Lottery
Hi there, Thomas. The clerk was correct in that because the ticket is so big, it cannot fit in the vending machine. As to the retailer selling tickets via ticket dispenser at the counter, that is a retailer decision.

I see we have another repeat Lucke-Rewards winner this year. With over 700k members and millions of entries in the rewards and second chance drawings the odds are astronomical that there would even be one repeat winner, much less 4 or 5 in a year. Makes one wonder just how honest these drawings are and how many winners are tossed out of the draws because they don't fit in with the agenda.
