Check your tickets: $100,000 Powerball ticket about to expire

We need your help to spread the word that a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000 is about to expire.

Someone bought the ticket for the Sept. 7 drawing, at the Lowe’s Foods on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.

The ticket expires in two weeks on Monday March 6. If you play Powerball in this store, check your tickets. It takes a lot of luck to win, and we hate for a prize like this to go unclaimed.

The lucky ticket matched four of the numbers on the five white balls and the number of the red Powerball.

Here are the winning numbers from the Sept. 7 drawing:

22-23-29-33-55 and 21

Because it was a $3 Power Play ticket, the regular $50,000 prize doubled when the 2X multiplier was drawn that night.

Make sure to get your tickets for the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday Feb. 22. The jackpot is $403 million and could rise higher. It’s worth $243.9 million if claimed as a one-time cash payment.

Thank you for the reply. I had check the blog a couple of times and didn't see a response. I think some players get upset thinking your not responding to them. Maybe if they knew about checking on the blog that they ask the question on for a response and if they don't see that blog any longer to go to the bottom of the page and go to older post to find that blog.

The new 30 dollar ticket is Terrible. What a bad run of tickets! Sales have to be down. It's nothing like the first 30 dollar ticket. Whoever printed these tickets off did the lottery no favor by putting the bad run out first.NC Lottery

Our state has had four Powerball jackpot winners: $74.5 million, $88.1 million, $141.4 million, and $188 million. There is no specific amount of prize money "allotted" to any one state for any one drawing; it depends how many tickets were lucky enough to win a prize. The reason you often see more prizes won when the jackpots get big is simply because more people are taking a chance to win. The more tickets that are bought in North Carolina, the more likely we'll win more and bigger prizes.

I know you have heard this song before but at least one time could the Powerball or Mega Millions let 435 people across the nation (states playing) win instead of 1 or 2 tickets winning. It could be advertised as such that there will be multiple winners. I am sure the jackpot will grow very quickly. Also, it is hard to believe that out of $435 million NC only had 3 $50,000 winners. Since someone won 4 million (store owner) that ends chances for the rest of us. What is the amount allotted for N C to win each month? One more thing how come there is never a winner in N C with say the $100 million winners? There is always some other state that wins. NC always wins a portion when the amounts are way up there.

LZ - it's pretty simple for the web programmers to add a "download to Excel" feature. It's already on the NCEL results pages where you can download the numbers from the draw games. Same thing for adding a running count of LZ second chance and drawing entries, simple. Your vendor constantly changes both web sites so why will they not add these features that players are requesting?NC Lottery

If you purchase tickets on your Subscription site, say 3 Cash 5 tickets and a Power Ball ticket will that add 4 entries in your daily 75 allowed entries? The new automated machines are really net. I like that you can get an easy match on the cash 5 among other things.NC Lottery

You could. Prizes under $100,000 can be claimed at regional offices in Charlotte, Asheville, Greensboro, Greenville and Wilmington. Prizes under $600 can be claimed anywhere lottery tickets are sold.

To anyone wanting to change your "display" name from "player". Go to the very top right hand corner of this page and click on your "user name". That will take you to the page where you can create a display name to differentiate yourself from everyone else. That is also where you go to update (if needed) your email & phone #.

No. Once you have entered a ticket, you do not need to keep it.

When someone comes to a lottery claims center to collect their prize, they are no required to have their picture taken. But we are going to try to share more stories from folks who win prizes through Rewards and second-chance drawings. And, when they are OK with it, we'll try to share their pictures, too :-)

We aren't sure what you are referring to. Because your screen name is the default "PLAYER" we can't tell your comments apart from other members. If you click the HELP link at the top of the screen, you can change your screen name to something unique.

LZ - every week someone asks how many entries have been submitted for drawings. You always respond with the numbers so a report or query has already been set up to pull the info. Total entries should be put on the drawings, and winners, pages so players can see that info and make decisions as to whether to enter the drawing or not. Why has the entry information not been put on those pages?NC Lottery
The lottery contracts with a vendor who helps manage the Rewards program. Suggestions from players is noted and included in conversations about future development of the website and its functionality. The moderators do our best to respond to questions with the information we have.

Lucky for Life is a multistate game. In just more than a year since North Carolina joined the game, our state has had one top prize winner of $1,000 a Day for Life, nine second prize winners of $25,000 a Year for Life, and 92 winners of $5,000. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 30.8 million. We're always rooting for someone in North Carolina to become Lucky for Life.
