Macon County woman says prize will help buy house

Michelle Lane was shopping at the Ingles Market on Palmer Street in her hometown of Franklin when she decided to try her luck on an Extreme Millions ticket.

She was still there at the grocery store when she scratched the ticket and found out she won $5,000.

Lane claimed her prize money Tuesday at the lottery's Asheville claims center. There, she said winning felt great and she called her husband right away to share the good news. Lane said the prize money would be put toward buying a house.

Big Winners

Extreme Millions started in December. All four top prizes of $10 million are still in the game, and 18 of the 22 instant prizes of $1 million remain to be claimed. The game's first $1 million second-chance drawing is scheduled for May 3 with an April 30 entry deadline.

It wasn't the most optimistic comment we've ever seen but it didn't disparage anyone else, so we preferred to use it as an opportunity to share some perspective. We're happy for winners whether they win $50, $5,000 or $5 million :-)

The winner and her husband were already planning to buy a home. While $5,000 won't buy a whole house it sounds like it will help.

At this time, the blog moderators don't know. But we'll ask. The lottery is getting a new website in the coming months that will include the players' club rolled into one site. Looking forward to offering a new experience for everyone.

Does anyone know if NCEL plans on updating the in website scanner to show if tickets are winners or losers.NC Lottery
Good news - an updated version of the mobile app WILL allow you to scan your ticket to determine if it is a winner or not. We've gotten LOTS of questions about when it will be available and we don't have a date yet. You'll be seeing a new website soon, too. As soon as we have dates to share we promise to share! :)

Thanks for the info. LZ ! Hey, odd thing when I bought a couple scratch off's today at a c store . Bought a $ 10.00 1ml. bonus cash with back scratch, ticket # 29, someone had inked in a "12" on the back. Also got a $ 5.00 mega fortune, one corner was almost tore off . ( ticket # 45 ) hmmmmmmm I know the drill , if I see anything suspicious.... etc., etc. ( didn't win a thing either, btw, but no news there ) anyone have any thoughts?NC Lottery
Since you're the only one with information about this, all we can suggest is that you contact our security team to report it. We don't have any idea what's up with that.
