On the coast, lucky ticket hits Cash 5 jackpot

It isn't just another day at the beach for someone who played Cash 5 in Brunswick County. A ticket sold in Shallotte won the $71,173 jackpot in Tuesday's drawing.

The ticket was bought at the Civietown Mini Mart on Holden Beach Road. The winning numbers were: 12-13-14-25-34.

Prizes up to $99,999 can be claimed at one of the lottery's regional claims centers. The closest lottery office to where this ticket was sold is in Wilmington.

Winners in a drawing have 180 days to claim prizes.

We look forward to meeting whoever bought this lucky ticket. And wish everyone luck in Wednesday's drawing for $50,000.

I have had nothing but grief from the Lottery Machines, I do not think the Lottery Scan for a winning ticket is programmed properly, or there is something funny going on, I have been playing Pick 4 for a long time, I have thousands of tickets that I purchased. Ever since thee 1 off started on Jan 29, I have made it my job to know the rules to that game, and I play it hard, not only did I study what all the rules were on the game, but I have followed your posts on the Rules as well, So let me say there is something really wrong with the Scan that determines winners, it is not following the rules that are outlined every where in pamphlets, on the website, on your website, lets assume that 0963 was the winning number Ill continue on the nextNC Lottery

Iv been playing since the beginning and one would think I would have been lucky by now and win atleast more than $$25bucks,the problem is that it is an unfair lotto system and they keep a range of winners only!I mean #'s don't lie if 100k people buy a $1 scratch off and loose the lotto made 100g in less then a few minutes ok now think on $2-$3-$5-$10-$20-$30 and figure out what they are making within minutes!where are all those "BILLIONS"going? Yep they can afford more winners is all im saying!

Scroll to th ebottom of the page where the Second-Chance drawings are listed and look to the right-hand side of the page where there is a drop-down menu that defaults to display ACTIVE drawings. Click on that and change it to ALL, and you can then scroll down to see the results of the Powerball Power Cruise drawings that have already been held.

The odds on the scratch offs are worse then than what they were. I also notice that sometimes the same numbers come out in the powerball, mega millions and lucky for life as well as cash 5. Unfortunately I don't play enough to catch them.

I questioned a few clerks point blank. They said it would be hard for them but not impossible. They also said it would be very easy for the owners to do so, especially the ones that own more then one store, which many do!!! Think about how EZ it is 4 them. Grab a $300 pack of tics, win a modest $500. Replace the $300, be ahead $200 without even touching their wallet. Not to mention the 7% commission they get 4 ticket sales & bonus for selling a huge winner in their store. I think it's time for another more aggressive sting operation.....

To 87SPG, merchants winning the top prize on the high dollar scratchers is nothing new is it? I'm sure you can find plenty. I started playing the California lottery in 1980, Ohio lottery from 1990-2004, the Virginia lottery until 2010 & now NC lottery. I have seen no difference in the odds of winning and my winnings are spot on to those odds. When I won it gave me a sense of freedom. I have lost more money being short changed at Food Lion

I'm done wasting money on the NC lottery. I have had almost 200 entries on several of the luck e rewards drawings and of course I've never won. It's always someone from Raleigh or Charlotte that wins. Of course the coast has been hot lately. I don't trust the drawing process at all! I live close to VA and I'm going to spend my money there. On a million dollar ticket VA pays over 600,000. NC Pays mid 400,000. What a rip off! Nobody determines where winning tickets are sent. The lottery provides packs of instant tickets to stores as they order them. Where a winning ticket shows up is not known until it is scratched off. There are multiple layers of auditing and security before and after an instant game goes on sale to ensure fairness to all players.
