Half million dollar jackpot won in Guilford County

Someone who played Carolina Cash 5 Thursday night won big. A lucky ticket sold at the Browns Summit Shell station on N.C. 150 in Browns Summit won the $514,153 jackpot.

It was the only ticket to match all five numbers drawn, which were 11-18-27-33-38. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 749,398.

Big Winners

Winners have 180 days to claim prizes. The lottery's offices and regional claims centers are closed Friday, April 14 for the state holiday in observance of Good Friday.

We look forward to meeting whoever won this big jackpot.

Hey LZ, a clerk just told me her lottery rep. said soon they would be getting a new tab on their screen much like the new trips & quads tab. Question--If you are a winner in a drawing using points,or in a second chance drawing, do you need to have the original ticket scanned to claim prize? NC Lottery

It's a new feature to allow you to filter the comments. Comments will now appear with the most recent first. But if you want to quickly go to the first comments posted you can press the oldest tab. As more and more folks participate, the lottery wanted to improve the blog so folks can find their comments more quickly.

Play At The Pump is available to any retailer who wants it. All Murphy Express stores do offer the options but it is available now at about 225 locations statewide. Other chains have lottery vending machines, including Speedway, Love's Travel Center, and Pilot Travel Center.

The odds for the Extreme Millions is completely and utterly false!!!! Multiple times I have bought 5 or 6 tickets in a row (numerically in order) and not 1 winner! And as of late, I've purchase 21 tickets before I won, and then it was only $30.00!! So, I would love having the pleasure for someone at the lottery commission, explain to me how on earth you can tell me the odds are 1:2.81 of breaking even! There is absolutely no way that is a fact!!!!NC Lottery
This is an important question that we hope folks who play lottery games understand. While the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 2.81, that does not mean that every third ticket will have a prize. The odds apply to the entire game which has millions of tickets.
