Powerball jackpots. Powerball numbers. Powerball winners. Folks in our state started playing and winning prizes in May 2006. It’s called “America’s Game.” And today we celebrate a major milestone: 25 years of Powerball.
In that quarter century there have been 357 “perfect tickets” to win shares of more than $19 billion in total jackpot prizes. North Carolina has had four jackpot winners, ranging from $74.5 million to $188 million.
Including winning the jackpot, there are nine ways to win a Powerball prize. In our state, lucky tickets have won $10,000 or more 1,716 times. Of those tickets, 211 won $100,000 or more – and 90 times the prize was $1 million to $2 million!
Thanks to all that fun, Powerball play has raised an estimated $761 million for education in North Carolina alone. That’s a nice win, too.

Almost everyone likes a chance to win. It’s no surprise cash is the most popular prize. But who doesn’t like a free T-shirt? We thought you might like that. So to celebrate Powerball’s 25th birthday, we’re having a special one-day promotion on social media to give away 25 Powerball T-shirts. Promotion Rules.
Here’s how it works. Just hop over to Facebook or Twitter and check out the pinned post at the top of our page. We’re asking – if you won a nice prize playing Powerball – what “Powerball Wishes” would you make come true? Over the years players have told us a range of ideas from sharing with family to donating to good causes – and, of course, plenty of examples of fun things they always planned to do if they won.
Now it’s your turn to share your Powerball Wishes. Join us on social media to celebrate 25 years of Powerball. You might win a T-shirt. And, if you play Powerball tonight for a chance to win the $80 million jackpot, you could win even more.

I have a scratch -off question?
If a vendor runs out of scratch-offs and reorder a new batch are there still big prizes in those batches or were the larger prizes all distributed when the game first came out?
I would pay off bills and help kids that's in a bad living situation.
Pay bills, give to family and donate to worthy causes, and do some traveling!
Finally paint 145 year old house. Cut down massive tree, remodel kitchen and take cooking course. Fortunately I don't have much in debt department. Just sit in sun and relax, and help family.
I would pay off my bills and build my daughters a house
I'm not on Facebook or Twitter but if I could win the power ball I would build me the house of my dreams and build both my daughters a house. I would also help family and friends that are in need.
Yeah, I Will Be Glad, When I am A Powerball Winner!
