Video: Reaction to $1 million second-chance win

Jesse Callahan of Greensboro is a dreamer. And, now that he’s won $1 million in our first Extreme Millions Second-Chance drawing, he plans to turn his creative ideas into reality.

“I’ve got a lot of projects,” said Callahan, a 28-year-old Internet marketer. “This gives me the freedom to pursue those dreams.”

He plans to work on his art and music.

“Everybody loves the arts,” Callahan said. “But they don’t want to support them. Now I can.”

Callahan wants to develop a self-improvement program to help people make the most of their time. He also plans to visit South Korea.

Callahan’s entry was chosen from 1,035,178. When he found out he won, Callahan couldn’t believe it.

Callahan had the choice of taking a $1 million annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the annuity and received his first payment of $50,000. After taxes he took home $34,759.

Callahan wasn’t the only player to win a prize in the second-chance drawing. Three players won $50,000 and twenty five players won $500.

If you didn’t win this time, there are still three more second-chance drawings left. We’ll let you know as soon as the next drawing date is set.

Go to Lucke-Rewards web page in Lucke-Zone. Click on Winners tab. A filter lets you see Active and Expired contests. You'll need to use the Expired filter to see the winners from the first Extreme Millions drawing. Here is a link. https://rewards.lucke-zone.com/drawings

I think it's bowlcrap that you half to take cash option on scratch offs it's just another way for the lottery to take more money out of the players pocket if you win a top prize you should get top prize all at once not over 20 years the lottery shire wouldn't let me pay for my $30 ticket over 20 years NC Lottery
It's the winner's choice. You can choose the lump sum amount and get that immediately or choose the annuity that pays out over time. Some like the lump sum. Some like the annuity. Hope you get that choice soon.

Still in disbelief 1,101 extreme entries and no name drawn..smh..so I have over 800 ultimate million's entry as of today please hurry and set a date and prayers I win..My mom is in a nursing home and she needs 24hrs care in order for me to bring her home and win I get that big win I'm going to do just that,build a house to accommodate her as well as buy a van so we can travel..

It seems more invasive to post someone's name than the number of entries. If all the winners are entering the drawings in astronomical amounts than there is really no point in entering a few here and there.

It's up to a lottery player if he or she wants to share with the public how often they play the lottery or how many tickets they entered into a drawing. The only things the lottery is required to share about a prize claim is the winner's name, hometown, game played and amount won. The rest - a winner's occupation, reaction to winning, or frequency of play is their business to share or not.

LZ ,just the "old" drawings and winners. As far as the $500 wins, used 2b a phone call was all it took to verify your. My friend said he was told he had to make a copy of the email & go to a claims office & do everything you do with a $600 & up win. Was he missed informed??? NC Lottery
OK. Will ask web folks to see if results are "old" enough to be removed. On second question, sounds like a Lucke-Zone contest win. You can mail or fax in the claim information or visit a regional office. Some paperwork involved, but not as much as $600 plus.

They're not - all comments are reviewed before they're published to ensure they don't contain vulgar language, are rude toward other players, or otherwise violate community standards. But 99% of comments are published. One thing that might help is changing your screen name from the default "PLAYER" to something unique so you can come back to the blog where your comment was posted and find your comment.

We won't know until the winners claim. Our communications team only gets to interview winners of $100,000+ so unless a winner of less than that chooses to fill out a questionnaire when they claim, we won't know for sure.

Stores can have their own policies for adding surcharges for use of cards, but not specifically for lottery tickets.

How many entries a player makes into a drawing is up to each player if they want to share that.

The question we get most often has to do with winner notification and winner announcements as it relates to Lucke-Rewards and promotional drawings. Winners are typically notified by email within 48 hours. So for a drawing held on a Wednesday, winners can expect a message by 5 p.m. Friday. If a winner does not respond to email notification, we will follow up with a telephone call and, if necessary, send certified mail.

No, you can throw them away. Or use them for an arts & crafts project, or any other purpose you like. But once you've entered them you don't need to keep them :)

I have been playing lottery and entering tickets since day one and have not won, but I am not complaining. I am happy for the people who have won. It is sad that their are so many people putting their hopes and dreams in the lottery. yes I could always use a win but do not put your life in somebody elses hands.

We don't have that information handy, but you can get a rough estimate by looking at the total number of prizes remaining and dividing it by the total number of prizes the game started with.

Greensboro is very much in the middle of the state. If everyone in the state moved to Ahoskie, or everyone in the Eastern part of the state moved to the western part of the state, everyone would still have the same chance to win the lottery :)
