William Reynolds of Mount Holly is an electrical contractor. In his line of work, you have to be good with numbers - and you have to be exact - to get the job done right.
Reynolds put those qualities to the test in Monday afternoon's Pick 4 drawing. The numbers he picked off the top of his head, 1-4-3-6, turned out to be not only good but also exact. The winning combination came up precisely in the order he chose them.
He had bought 10 tickets for $.50 each at Lee's Quick Stop on North Main Street in his hometown. Because each ticket won the maximum prize possible on a $.50 ticket - $2,500 - he hauled in a total of $25,000.
"I told my wife and jumped for joy," Reynolds said as he collected his winnings Tuesday at the lottery's Charlotte claims center. "She kept saying, 'No way!'"
Reynolds said he planned to buy a new zero turn mower and put the rest into savings. Sounds like a lucky day means a happy summer ahead for these folks.
