Cash 5 jackpot hit for for 5th time in 7 days

One thing jackpots are known for is rolling. But it's Cash 5 jackpot winners that have been on a roll this week, with the jackpot getting hit five out of the last seven drawings.

It started with a jackpot worth more than half a million dollars last Tuesday. A ticket sold at the Friendly Mart on East Seventh Street in Charlotte won $590,477.

Just 48 hours later, a ticket sold in Orange County at the Circle K on U.S. 70 East in Hillsborough won $70,539.

Friday night the $50,000 jackpot was won by a ticket sold in Beaufort County at the Travel Store on U.S. 264 East in Washington.

Big Winners

With the jackpot again reset to $50,000 for Saturday's drawing the jackpot was hit once more, this time by a ticket sold in Pasquotank County at the Han-Dee Hugo on Halstead Boulevard in Elizabeth City.

After the jackpot rolled Sunday night there was yet another lone perfect ticket for Monday's drawing, this time winning the $55,380 jackpot. The winning ticket was sold in Iredell County at the Speedway on Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.

That's a lot of jackpots. Will the jackpot be hit, split or roll tonight? We'll be watching with all the Cash 5 players out there to find out. Good luck!

Hilarious. After Quad 6's hit on Pick 4, guess NCEL needed spread it thin for awhile. Cash 5 is high odds to win, usual rolls 3,4,5 times at least. Strange to say the least. Play on dreamers. Good luck

Just put in $600 of losers ($20 & $30 cards), which tells me you are not putting the money out like you use too. The lottery controls where the good packs go and where the dead packs go.NC Lottery
It takes a good big of luck to win lottery prizes. The lottery doesn't know where winning tickets are. Our system is designed to distribute tickets randomly across the state to all 6,850 retail locations.

Congratulations everyone. I have a question for lottery administrators. On yesterday I purchased two sets of The Works tickets at 10:22 yesterday morning. When I came home I looked at my tickets about 2 o'clock and noticed I was missing a Powerball ticket. I called the store and I told them I was missing the ticket and the cashier said the ticket had fallen behind the register he would save it for me and I can come and pick it up when I got ready. I picked up the ticket last night about 15 minutes till 10. When I came back home and look at the ticket the time frame read 13:09 which is 1 1:00 military time, all of my other ticket# read 10:22. That Powerball ticket that I was missing should have read 10:22. If that ticket is a winner what can I do to protect myself. I am saving the tickets that I purchased yesterday morning at 10:22 at that site.NC Lottery

Agree with Turbo... MUCH better to have 10 $50k winners than a single 500k winner. Lottery officials everywhere need to stop pushing these ludicrous jackpots and instead create moderate caps and generate additional drawings to award remaining prize money. i.e. if a pot gets to 1 million, you hold the main draw for 250k, then 3 more for 250k each. You guys can figure out the logistics. But stop funneling all the money to a single winner. 250k is just fine after taxes. Heck, I could retire on a million. So no more ludicrous prizes please.

Everything the lottery does is about luck and random chance. Winners in Rewards and game-specific drawings are chosen randomly. So having even just one entry gives you a chance to win :)

Funny how months back many people were complaining about the new cash 5 and how it was going to make it harder to win and look someone won AGAIN in Thursday night's drawing... You people will never be happy, always something to complain about -- However on a brighter note I am so proud of the NC Lottery, b/c our lottery gives us so many options and ways to win unlike neighboring states do with their lottery. I keep losing track trying to add them up. LZ can you tell us how many times the cash5 has been hit in 2017. A break down by month would be great :-).NC Lottery
We did a manual count looking back at the past drawing info on the website - looks like in January and April there were 3 jackpots won, and in February and March there were 4. Already have *6* for May - and still nearly three weeks to go until the end of the month!

Make that 6 out of last 9 drawings!!! So much for everyone thinking the cash5 would be harder to hit after adding 2 numbers. To all those always asking "where did the cash5 get hit". Back on the main page, click on games then cash5. Last 5 draws come up. Click on the little blue ^^ to see pay out. Or click on past drawings, 10 will come up, just click on "pay out". You can also filter what ever month you want with just a click of the mouse. The cash5 has been hit more times so far in May then the entire month of April, I think only 4 or 5 times in April.

We first announced last summer that in the coming months you would see new equipment at retailers, a new website and an updated mobile app. We're getting much closer to the website and the app going live. We understand why folks are eager to see these things come to life so sit tight! :)

This is nothing new, if you play cash5 regularly. It gets reset ALL the time which means people win ALL the time across the state. Why are you going to charge $2 and change the format of this game to your "rollover" version? It is completely insane to monkey with something that WORKS... unless there is some ulterior motive and someone's pockets are getting greased, it makes no sense why you'd want to even mess with this game.NC Lottery
Any consumer product may need to be updated to ensure it remains popular. Any changes made to a lottery game would be designed to increase sales, but nothing would change as far as the prize payout percentage or where the lottery's earnings go. All draw games pay out 50% in prizes over time and 100% of the lottery's profits benefit education.

It might only take one entry to win :) But there are lots of members entering for a chance to win - there are already more than 223,000 entries in the Spring Green monthly drawing and there were 258,888 entries made for today's $500 Quick Cash drawing. Good luck!
