Alamance County man wins $5,000, eyes new wheels

Qawi Bailey has been planning to get new car. After winning $5,000 in the new Jeep scratch-off game, he plans to get one even sooner.

Bailey, a cashier from Mebane, bought a $5 ticket at the Murphy USA on Mebane Road. That's where he scratched it and realized he won instantly.

Bailey collected his winnings Thursday at the lottery's Greensboro claims center. There, he said he couldn't believe it when he won.

Bailey isn't the only player in the Jeep game who will be getting a new ride. Three second-chance drawings will award a total of seven Jeep brand vehicles to lucky winners.

Two top prizes of $200,000 have already been won, leaving two more to be claimed. Good luck to everyone.

I have a question for the cash 5 game. Can a winner choose the annuity pay out, base on the prize winning, or is it always a lump sum after taxes? NC Lottery
