Last week of June wraps with two $1 million prizes

Players from Chapel Hill and Charlotte came to lottery headquarters this week to collect their $1 million prizes.

Gary Stadler bouight a $1,000,000 Bonus Cash ticket at the Quality Mart on Walnut Street in Cary. It turned out to win him the top prize. He chose the annuity option. He already received his first of 20 yearly payments of $50,000.

Gudiel Lopez of Charlotte won his $1 million prize on an Extreme Millions ticket he bought at the Cornor Mart on Eastway Drive in his hometown. All four top prizes of $10 million and 16 more instant prizes of $1 million are still in the game.

A $209,623 Cash 5 jackpot will take a Hoke County couple on a Caribbean cruise. William and Pat Shouse of Raeford say they're going to set sail for Aruba and the Dominican Republic. They won the jackpot in Wednesday's drawing. William bought the lucky Quick Pick

Big Winners

Two players won $50,000. Pauline Bordes of Bunnlevel won playing $50,000 Taxes Paid. And Quaay brown of Hickory won playing Carolina Millions.

Seven players scratched their way to $10,000:

- Andrea Hayes of Thomasville (Loteria)
- Marsha Herring of Linden (Ruby Red 7's)
- Richard Leu of Charlotte ($1,000,000 Taxes Paid)
- Jingwei Luo of Charlotte ($5,000,000 Mega Cash)
- Majin Mejia-Alvarado of Raleigh (Jeep)
- Craig Peddicord of Wilmington ($5,000,000 Mega Cash)
- Kevin Rytel of Charlotte ($5,000,000 Mega Cash)

Seventeen prizes of $5,000 were awarded. One of the prizes was claimed by Timothy Gordon of Lexington and Allen Gordon of Stanley. They got a lucky Jeep ticket at the Circle Ka on U.S. 64 West in Lexington. The other 16 prizes went to winners from Burlington, Castle Hayne, Enfield, Hollister, Huntersville, Jacksonville, Kannapolis, Lexington, Madison, Nags Head, Oxford, Pikeville, Raleigh, Rutherfordton, Saint Pauls, and Troy.

Hi NotSharon. There was no drawing that took place on July 4th. The drawings on July 5th were the Splish Splash Summer Cash, the 10X Quick Cash and the Jeep Second Chance Drawing. hope this helps!

In response to TigerB I notice as well as others in Western part. The woman who won from Caldwell bought her ticket east of Hickory. There was article in local paper about her win. According to the article she felt the same way about winning in the eastern part. The chances of winning should be equal to everyone not just because they buy more tickets in eastern part. This was said in an earlier response here in Lucke zone. You can't compare larger counties to smaller ones. The upper western and foothills population don't compare to the population east of Hickory in the larger counties.

I believe the Itzy Bitzy little places like mine need to quit spending money to make the big areas win because that's all that's going on.I think something needs to change about that !!!! NC Lottery
It's not easier to win the lottery in a big place than a small one. There are just more people taking a chance to win there. If you moved to a big city and played the lottery there, you'd just be playing the lottery with a lot more people around you. The lottery can only work if everyone has the same chance to win, and no matter where you live you have the same chance to beat the odds as someone anyplace else.

We wish every ticket could be a lucky one, but that is just not the case. It's not easier to win the lottery in a big city. If you drove to Charlotte and played the lottery you'd have the same chance of winning as if you buy a ticket in a small town.

Question...are the second chance drawing entry number based on the time you enter the ticket or is it based on the actual ticket number. If I enter 75 tickets would they all be consecutive because I entered one after the other or would they be random because the entry is based on the ticket number. Hi Pickme. Great question! The entry numbers are assigned according to the time the tickets are entered into the drawing. The ticket number has no bearing on the entry number assigned. Hope this helps.

Been putting all my non-winning tickets on the Lucke Rewards or second chance drawings since the beginning and have never won so much as even 500 dollars. Alot of winners all the time out of Charlotte,Fayetteville and Raleigh though. Geeze how many entries do you have to put in to win anything? I was like cantbreakeven, why does it seem places like charlotte always get big winners? Here is what I think lottery may TRY to distribute evenly but how can they? It has to depend on sales if you have a large area or small town and they sell ALOT of tickets they will require more tickets which equals more wins I use to go to Va to get tickets and to be honest won more and higher amounts but glad NC came around still hoping for big win as I spread the love from LuckEZone to scratch off to draws its all in how lucky you are so gonna keep giving 'ole NC a shot

Crazy- just read a blog from someone on lotto.com about the NC pick 3/4 drawings back in 2014,this person stated the woman announcing the winning #s on tv had on the same outfit twice the next day drawing as well,this person that stated this said they felt perhaps the drawings are actually held "couple days ahead of the actual drawings??makes sense ,you just don't have idea of how much info you can actually find w info concerning dishonesty w lottos,interesting reads I say

I deposited money in vending machine and it would not dispense tickets. The clerk opened the machine and handed me the tickets. Aren't tickets supposed to be scannned she sold?NC Lottery
Yes. Instant tickets are activated before they are sold. And they would be activated before being placed in a vending machine. So there should not have been any issue with your tickets. If there was, please call our Customer Service team at (877) 962-7529.

I dispute that point, LuckeZone! Scratch tickets are not evenly distributed across the state. Look at that map, people! Western North Carolina may as well not exist as far as NCEL is concerned. Why is there even an Asheville claims center? There are no prizes here! None!
