The 12th largest Powerball jackpot is up for grabs tonight, and it’s got players across the state daydreaming about winning the $375 million annuity and estimated cash value of $235.4 million.
And to keep that #WinnerWednesday feeling going, we are sharing a fairy tale Powerball story of a New Jersey family who knew exactly what they wanted to do with their prize — help others.
Last year, a single mom and her seven adult children won a $430 million Powerball jackpot. The family split their jackpot eight ways and each one contributed some of the winnings to help create the Smith Family Foundation. The hope is that the foundation will help areas of education, neighborhood development, and youth and families thrive in their community for years to come.
Check out the news article on NJ.com to read more about the Smith family.
Right here in North Carolina, we have seen Powerball winners pay it forward by donating to churches, providing school supplies, making charitable donations, building an athletic field, and even creating family foundations to give back.
So far, four players have brought the jackpot home to North Carolina. We’re hoping to make it five soon.
You have until 9:59 p.m. to buy a ticket for tonight’s drawing. Don’t forget, if you can't make it to the store, you can play Powerball through subscription services on our website.
If you happen to hit it big, what would you do? Dream a little.

Awesome congrats to the lucky winner !!
Take care of my parents, children and grant children. I would help my child establish a business so she can take care of my grand children.
I am not one who is all happy when PB/MM become so big when 1 person only win. This amount you're able and should have over dozens winning from at least 1/4th, of our U.S.A,fifty states, easily, would be able to feed at least 1/4th of people/winner's not 1 or 2,that is why so many think it's rigged. But i am going to buy 1 or 2,just to see again what happens. I win multi-x at times when i visit NJ,DE tri-state off I-95. and then when i come here to see familia. I have better odds with smaller jackpots for thousands, and i am happy with that, and good luck to all playing this "powerball"adios.
