Video:‘Dream’ Jeep surprises Wilmington man

Adventure caught up to a lucky Wilmington lottery player on Monday. Jeff Gould went to the lottery’s Wilmington office to claim a prize, not knowing that he had won the Jeep® brand ticket second chance drawing.

Blindfolded, Gould went to the parking lot. When the blindfold came off, he saw a line-up of three brand new Jeeps from Neuwirth Motors in Wilmington.

Gould could choose between a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, and a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. The Jeep prize is valued at $45,203 and that includes cash for winners to choose their own options for their Jeep and the initial taxes.

The handyman, most interested in the Grand Cherokee, said the win came at the perfect time.

“The funny thing is, I was just talking to my wife about switching out my work truck for an SUV when I retire in a couple of years,” Gould said. “This really is a dream come true.”

Gould beat the odds of one of 196,456 entries in the first second-chance drawing, which had two Jeeps as prizes. The second winner has yet to claim their prize.

Want a chance to win a Jeep? Don’t worry, there are still three remaining drawings in this promotion. Here’s how to play. First, make sure that you are a member of the Player's Club, and you are logged in to your Player's Club account. Go to the Enter Tickets page and follow the instructions provided. Each qualifying ticket submitted will be entered into the current second chance drawing during the promotion period.

To be eligible for the next drawing, make sure to enter before July 31. The upcoming Jeep® brand ticket second chance drawing is scheduled for Aug. 9.

pretty cool,in these days and times any thing to take the old stress monster off some and make more time for family,it would be unreal to win get a car, maybe even a small house so my daughter could have a room to sleep in. I scratched off a 100x the cash ticket I had for awhile and is no longer played. I matched a number and when I scanned it it stated see retailer. The clerk stated it was no good and offered to take it. I kept it. Was the clerk trying to pull one over on me. What can I do. I cannot even remember where I purchased it.NC Lottery
The 100X The Cash game has ended, and we are no longer accepting claims on that ticket. Whenever a game ends we collect the remaining tickets from the retailers so that they are not sold anymore. We accept claims for a limited time after that so players a chance to redeem their prize, but once that deadline is passed the ticket is no longer valid.

The drawing page does say that. The second winner in the first drawing has been notified but has not yet completed the claim process. There will be two more Jeeps given away in the Aug. 9 drawing, two more in the September 6 drawing, and in the fourth and final drawing - the date is still TBA - there will be one winner, for a total of seven for the game.

Wow, one store had 13 $1000 tickets. I keep up with the winning tickets sold at my favorite stores and they seem to average one $1000 winner every 4 to 6 months or so, definitely nothing in comparison to that. I guess we all need to start buying our tickets at Sam's Mart. If I recall correctly it was a Sam's Mart in Concord that sold the $1 mil win on Millionaire Bucks earlier in the year. Wow. NC Lottery
Without knowing how much someone is playing the lottery, it is impossible to determine how much luck factored into their wins. Keep in mind that if someone has won $4 million, their entertainment budget could be larger than most. Unless someone has a lot of extra money for fun, we don't recommend playing the lottery in a high volume. Buying a roll of tickets never guarantees a person will win more than they wager. But if someone gets lots of tickets, over time, they will win lots of prizes, and get lots of non-winning tickets, too.

When I enter a cash drawing In promotions say for 10 Entries I get a confirmation Number how does this number Work? Are my entries like Example(#1-10 or 551-561)NC Lottery
The confirmation number is just a number assigned to record the transaction. If you use 100 points to enter a 25 point drawing, you get four sequential entries in the drawing. The random number generator is told to randomly select a certain # of entries within the range of total entries.

The earlier post about the same person winning all those prizes brings something to memory. Remember the same person winning the McDonald monopoly game 4 times. Came to find out after an investigation they found out there was a connection with the people that make the tickets. That number of wins is impossible. Sounds like there needs to be an investigation. Not saying the person that won did this but that definitely warrants an investigation. NC Lottery

WOW 87spg, that hit home!!! That very store was within walking distance of my house b4 I moved here a year ago. Word on the street way back then was not good . Employees from that store would go to other merchants in town to cash less then $600 winning scratch offs they had "purchased" in said store . It's obvious people that owe child support & back taxes or don't have a SS# know how to avoid the man & stay off the grid. I see things have not changed!!!NC Lottery

@87SUPERGLIDE - We researched the question. The answer is that the one ticket, as displayed, was sold at the Pit Stop in Conover. All 13 of the other tickets were sold in the winner's hometown of Denver, NC at the Sam's Mart on N.C. 16. That store underwent a change of ownership that was effective in May. When stores change ownership, the retailer IDs used to populate winner info on the website become inactive and right now there is no mechanism in place to reconcile that data connection. We passed along that you had a concern about it. There was no decision made to withhold the information, it was purely technical.

I'm guessing he did what I do when I go on vacation & extend my multi draw tickets even though they still have draws on them. (play the same multi draw play slip on consecutive days). Sure thing. We released the story about the Cash 5 winner who had both winning tickets. He usually plays on Fridays and Saturdays. But since his birthday was coming up on a Friday, the day before he got a ticket to be sure he had his numbers in. Then the next day, on his birthday, he got another ticket. Keep in mind that there were 288,240 total entries for this week's $1,000 Quick Cash drawing, and there are already more than 253,677 entries for this month's Red, White & Blue Bucks drawing. Congrats Jeff. I find that press release odd. How can you go to a claim center to claim the prize in the Jeep 2nd chance and not know you won a Jeep??? There is no other prizes , Just a jeep. When we contacted the winner, we let him know that he had won something in a second-chance drawing. When our team met him, he had narrowed it down to about three possible prizes he may have won, including the Jeep. So it was pretty cool to get to share the moment he saw the Jeeps waiting for him in the parking lot :-)

So in this weeks Winners Board update one person cashed in a $10k prize and 13, yes I said 13, $1k prizes. This same person also won $4M in January and in total has cashed in 17 times in 6 months. No one is that lucky. Another interesting note is that NCEL does not reveal where 13 of the tickets cashed in were sold. 11 of those were Extreme Millions tickets, one was a $5M Mega and the other was an Ultimate Millions ticket. NCEL knows exactly were the tickets were purchased and every week there are multiple winners posted without the location of the ticket purchase. Why is that and what is being hidden?NC Lottery
