In the sports world, the week after the MLB All-Star Game is the slowest of the year. But that didn't stop lottery players from lighting up the scoreboard this week, with the biggest wins coming on lucky Cash 5 and $500 Frenzy tickets.
A delivery driver from Rocky Mount is packing his bags and setting course for Australia. Ricky Daniels said the $416,547 jackpot he won in the April 4 Cash 5 drawing will pay for the dream trip. He bought his winning Quick Pick ticket at the Walmart on Murchison Road in Fayetteville.
Pender County resident Israel Carbajal of Rocky Point is the first top prize winner of $200,000 in the new $500 Frenzy game. He bought his winning $5 ticket at the Hampstead Country Store on U.S. 17 South. Since the game began July 4, players have won $956,500 in $500 prizes, with more than $5.3 million still out there.
A couple from Avery County says winning $200,000 instantly means they can buy their dream house. Gallie and Sarah Calloway of Newland won the top prize on a "$" ticket purchased at the Three Mile Quick Mart on Linville Falls Highway. “We were in complete, and utter shock,” Gallie said.

A third $200,000 prize this week belongs to Harvelee Mcclough of Hickory. After working a late shift, he stopped to get gas at the Speedway on N.C. 127 South. There, he bought a $5 Mega Fortune ticket that won in the top prize. With his claim, one top prize is still in the game.
A Charlotte man hit the jackpot on his 72nd birthday. Paul Fowler has been playing the same numbers for years. He ended up buying two tickets that matched all five numbers in the July 7 drawing to win the $391,096 jackpot. Fowler got both tickets at the Harris Teeter on Mallard Creek Church Road.
A player from a small town 12 miles east of Greenville won $100,000 on a $5,000,000 Mega Cash ticket. David Elks of Grimesland got his lucky ticket at the Choco Mart on U.S. 17 South in Chocowinity.

We've got our first two grand prize winners in the Jeep second-chance promotion. Jeffrey Gould of Wilmington and Robert Harris of Charlotte won in the drawing held July 5. Any Jeep ticket entered between July 1 and July 31 will be eligible for the next second-chance drawing on Aug. 9. Two more winners in that drawing will get to drive home either a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, or a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk.
A group of 28 Powerball players from Hendersonville and the surrounding area are sharing the $50,000 they won in the June 3 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at the Energy Mart on Brevard Road in Hendersonville.
Estelle Williams of Fayetteville won $20,000 instantly. She bought a lucky Ultimate Millions ticket at the Speedway on North Reilly Road.

It was a fun week getting to know some of our state's lucky winners. We look forward to meeting more next week. Until then, have a fun and safe weekend.
