Cash 5 tops $500K, Powerball reaches $220 million

A lucky Mega Millions ticket sold on the coast won $5,000 Tuesday night as Cash 5 and Powerball players look ahead to two more big jackpot drawings on Wednesday.

The Mega Millions ticket matched four white balls and the gold Mega Ball. It was sold at the Jim Dandy on Arendell Street in Morehead City. The winning numbers were 2-5-26-58-60 and 6 for the Mega Ball. The jackpot rolled to $282 million for Friday's drawing.

Cash 5 players have the chance to win a jackpot worth more than half a million dollars. The jackpot heading into Wednesday night is $518,000. If it is won, the starting jackpot will be $100,000 for the next drawing.

The Powerball jackpot is a $220 million annuity worth $139 million cash. It could be hit, split or grow even larger.

LZ, thx for the response. I did some checking on the LFL website, just NC vs Conn. Not only did we get 2 top prizes compared to their none!. Since 02/18/16. NC got 7 wins of $25k a year, Conn. 6. And NC got 125 winners of $5k and Conn. only 113.

@ GardenGirl. No worries, it is not rigged. Lucky For Life: the drawing is there because that is where the game originally started. There have only been 9 total top prize winners of $1,000 A Day For Life. Two of those winners are from NC. None are from CT. Mecklenburg County Winners: Type this into your search engine to search winners in Mecklenburg County: site:nc-educationlottery.org "mecklenburg county" You can see there have been quite a few big winners from your area, most recently a June 28 $1 million win. It is very interesting that you (LZ) mentioned that the Lucky for Life has it's drawing in Connecticut because most of the winners are in Connecticut. If that doesn't strike you as odd check the numbers. And we talk about the lottery not being rigged. Mecklenburg county has the worst rate of winning. How can a person buy six tickets in a row and win absolutely nothing? I drive to South Carolina and do the same thing and win on every other ticket! Hey if you don't have any suspicion about how bad the lottery is in Mecklenburg county go out there and buy several tickets in a row and see! NC Lottery

Sure Turbo. Powerball drawings are held in Tallahassee, Florida. Mega Millions drawings are hosted by WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. Lucky for Life drawings are at WCCT-TV in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the question! The drawings aren't scheduled for a certain time of day. Instead, they happen when audit and security staff are available to follow the procedures. Winners are typically notified within 48 hours. Hope this helps!
