A day at the beach: Pick 4 player snags $5,000

A plant manager from Thomasville on vacation at Carolina Beach got the catch of the day.

Bernard Lodzinksi was sitting with his wife on the porch of their beach house when he found out his Pick 4 numbers were lucky in the July 28 afternoon drawing, winning the game's top prize of $5,000.

Lodzinski bought his lucky ticket at the Sea Merchant on Cape Fear Boulevard in Carolina Beach. When he cashed it in at our Greensboro claims center, he told us he was very happy to win and plans to save some of the money for another trip back to the coast.

Afternoon and evening Pick 4 drawings are held every day. The odds of any of the possible combinations being drawn are 1 in 10,000.

I figured out that you can get to the new app and scan using the luck-e-zone app. Didn't want to go back to entering all tickets manually.

I don't appreciate participating in the second chances when my entries are being deleted. I feel that this is very fradulent activity. I know that this is a game of chance but clearly this site is a bit seethy. In the beginning I have encouraged others to participate and now discouraging others not to waste their time. NC Lottery

Although sales last year for games available through subscription were less than 1% of total sales of those games, we have had a $5,000 Lucky for Life winner, a $15,000 Mega Millions winner, a $20,000 Powerball winner, and a $149,970 Cash 5 jackpot winner. You have the same chance of winning playing through subscription as buying a ticket at a store. Good luck!

So if you win a million on PB, MM or a scratch off you have a choice of $600k lump sum minus taxes (about $400k) or 20 year payments of $50k minus taxes, but if you win a million in cash5 you get the million minus the taxes, (about$600 or $700k). LZ is that correct?NC Lottery
You are correct about Cash 5 - that there is no choice between an annuity or cash option for that game. It's just a cash prize. With Powerball and Mega Millions, only the jackpot has an annuity or cash option; all other prizes in those games including $1 million prizes are one-time cash payments.

Still waiting on my first exact pay out on Pick 4. I wish you could pay more than 7 day in advance, the 2nd lottery should let you pay for a full month, it would generate more revenue for the state and be better for the players, only 7 days at a time is craxy, are they worried about retailer collect to much money at one time???NC Lottery
The play limits are determined by the appointed commission that oversees the lottery's operations. It's possible that those limits could be adjusted in the future.

We also won $5,000 on pick 4 on July 27 and $400 on pick 3 back in June. Was playing scratch offs and was not winning anything until someone told us the odds are better if you play the draw games. So the money we were using for scratch offs we put on the draw games. Needless to say we have won more now than we have ever won. Now we are looking forward to our next big win, the powerball and/or mega millions.
