Hurricane Irma evacuee wins $10,000 lottery prize

We love to share winner stories like this one. Tiffany Hatfield of Ocoee, Florida ran into some good luck after Hurricane Irma forced her family to evacuate their home.

The mother of three was heading to Virginia with her children to wait out the storm when she stopped at the Circle K on Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount.

“This was pure luck,” Hatfield said. “We only stopped because my daughter needed to use the restroom.”

While she was there, Hatfield decided to spend $5 on a $250,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Hatfield said when she realized she won. “It blows my mind. I was screaming, my kids started screaming. It was amazing!”

Hatfield claimed her prize Tuesday at the Greenville Claim Center.

Hatfield is already on her way back to Florida to assess the storm damage. She plans to use the money to help with any repairs she might have. If there’s money left over, she wants to redecorate her house.

@87Superglide, you should google that one...he's been even luckier in at least 2013 ( 1 ml. luckier) and earlier in Jan. of this year . ( 1K ) Guess he's still spending that 1 ml. win on tickets ?!
