Playing the lottery helps support education in North Carolina.
When you play the lottery, you also help fund school construction across the state. Since the lottery started, it has raised more than $1.2 billion for these projects.
Davie County High School opened to students in August thanks in part to lottery funding. The new building is 335,000 square-feet. It has 12 science classrooms with lab space as well as 26 classrooms dedicated to career and technical education. There’s an outdoor courtyard and an auditorium that seats 750.
“It’s surreal. It’s wonderful,” one teacher told the Winston-Salem Journal. “I feel like a first-year teacher, and I’ve taught for 32 years.”
This year, $130 million of the money raised by the lottery will help build and repair schools across the state. You can find out how lottery dollars benefit your county by going to our website: http://www.nc-educationlottery.org
