Charlotte woman wins $400,000 lottery prize

Jennifer Lockhart of Charlotte is the first player to win $400,000 playing the new Big Win scratch-off game.

Lockhart bought the $5 ticket at the 7-Eleven on North Graham Street in Charlotte.

She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $278,005.

The $5 ticket launched on Jan. 2 with four top prizes of $400,000 and six prizes of $10,000. Three top prizes and four $10,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from instant games like Big Win make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

100 counties,6800 retailers but majority winners in Raleigh or 100-150 mile radius.They throw one or two winners around once in a blue moon so they can say it’s random..Check it out if you don’t believe me!! NC Lottery
Hi John- We don’t know where the winning tickets will be and everyone who plays the lottery has the same chance to beat the odds as anyone else. If you live in the Raleigh area it is not easier to win, there is simply a large number of people who play.

The Top Ten List for retailers is actually in the yearly financial reports. I found it by accident when I was going over the one of the yearly financial reports. the list is by all retailers in the State.

Really does not matter where you play, when I go to Fayetteville I frequent the 3 of the top retailers of the state. Fayetteville has the #1, #7 & #10. Gotta have the lucky streak on you to win. Not me yet to win a Big one but I keep trying. Good Luck to everyone.
