Durham man splits $244,472 Cash 5 jackpot

Edward Bell of Durham is celebrating after he won half of a $244,472 Cash 5 jackpot.  

Bell bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Food Lion on North Roxboro Street in Durham.

He beat odds of one in 749,398 to win the Jan. 14 drawing.

He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. His half of the jackpot is $122,236. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $84,955.

Norman Street of Fayetteville won the other half of the jackpot. He bought his lucky ticket at the Fast Trip on Yadkin Road in Fayetteville.

Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million dollars a year for education.

Have the winners of the recent extreme millions second chance drawing been announced? NC Lottery
Hi Tim! Winners have been notified. You can see who won by going to the "User Dashboard" and clicking on the "Draws " icon. Make sure the "Second-Chance" tab is selected. Once you're there, uncheck the "My Entries" box and make sure the drop-down menu says "All". Winners names are posted as they claim their prize.
