Dare County woman wins $157,459 New Year’s Eve Cash 5 jackpot

Vicki Gentes of Kill Devil Hills is celebrating after she matched all five numbers to win a $157,459 Cash 5 jackpot on the New Year’s Eve drawing.

Gentes bought the Quick Pick at the Food Lion on Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills. She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $109,435.

Tuesday’s Cash 5 drawing has an estimated top prize of $50,000. Players have three ways to buy tickets for draw games like Cash 5. They can go to their favorite retailer, they can Play at the Pump, or they can join the lottery’s Player’s Club and buy them online. To learn more go to www.nclottery.com/play
