Nadine Ryles of Fuquay-Varina plans to get a new Chevrolet for Christmas after she played the Mega Bucks scratch-off game and won $200,000.
“I’m a Chevy person,” Ryles said. “I love Chevrolet!”
Ryles’ good luck happened when she stopped by the Speedway on North Main Street in Lillington. She had read about other Mega Bucks winners, so she got two of the $5 tickets.
“I knew there were some big winners in that game,” Ryles said. “I wanted to be like that woman who just walked in for a bar of soap and won.”
She took the tickets to her car and scratched them.
“It didn’t really sink in at first,” Ryles said, “I had to check it again.”
Ryles claimed the prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $141,003.
