Cash 5 ticket sold in Triad wins $1,055,993 jackpot

Friday’s Carolina Cash 5 drawing produced a $1 million win for someone who bought a ticket at a Triad convenience store.

The lucky winner bought the $1 million ticket at Rushco Food Stores on Salisbury Road in Mocksville. The ticket matched all five numbers, 2-12-30-39-40, beating odds of 1 in 962,598.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

The $1 million jackpot was the largest since a new version of the Carolina Cash 5 game started in November with jackpots starting at $100,000, up from $50,000. The largest jackpot so far in the game was $1.7 million that was won in June 2017.

Well, when the jackpot was up to a Million plus, I purchased 5.00 worth. With this I got exactly one number. Eric T. at least you won a buck. As for me, I'm in the hole 5.00. All together I'm In the hole deep. Not as deep as I see some people come in and play 4-5 hundred on Mega Millions. As for me 3 bucks.

Hi Melinda, the barcodes are for collecting points for Lucke-Rewards drawings. If the ticket has a Second-Chance opportunity, you will also automatically get an entry into the second chance drawing for the ticket when you scan it.

What is wrong with the mobile app. Can’t/won’t scan the barcodes in the check mode, red message states;There was a issue scanning the bar code. In the collect points mode all works fine. Have deleted the app. and reloaded to no avail. This started happening on Dec. 27. NC Lottery

Wish they would go back to the original Cash 5 game when it only had 39 numbers to pick from and then the odds were twice as better to win - only about 600,000 to 1. Now it's about a million to one when they added 3 new numbers ( 1-42) . Makes it 40% harder to win now than before. Would rather have better odds to win rather than bigger jackpots. They did the same thing with Power Ball - added another number and made it harder to win.

Congratulations....to better the chances of different people winning the second chance drawing they need to lower the daily limit from 75 to 25.This would give a person not a store employee or family member a better chance.

its not how many tickets you buy--believe me !! its where ever the computer throws the winning numbers ! computer programer advised me --every store gets the winning numbers--one time daily--if you buy QP-- YOU MIGHT GET IT --if you buy at the right time of day--or just play your own numbers and hope they are throwed by the computer, so buying 100 tickets at the same time---not good---should buy one ticket every 10 mins.--better odds ! Hey Patricia, We're not sure where you got that information, but we wanted to let you know that no one knows what the Cash 5 winning numbers will be until the drawing happens live, nor does anyone control where the winning numbers are able to be purchased via computer system. Our Cash 5 drawing is conducted using a ball machine, not a computer program, and it is observed by an independent auditor who verifies the results.

wow! I know only spend what you can afford to spend. But when a jackpot gets this high, the sky is the limit.. I don't buy Pb,MM or LFL tickets. I only buy about three bucks a day on Cash5 tickets. When it jumps to over 400,000, I start getting more and more tickets each drawing. More tickets than I should, thinking about winning and what will I do when I do win. I spent 25 dollars last night on Cash5 tickets, not counting, ten here and 15 there hoping Richmond County person would be a winner this time, ME,ME,ME! No luck for me again! I am about tired of trying to win. I have had no luck on any of the games and play faithful since it came to NC. I know you got to be in it to win it, even the second chance drawings. I guess it's just not my time. Was this ticket a quick pick? Again look at the areas that seem to hit the most. Why???NC Lottery
